Just got it in yesterday, blows the scud away, and it ain't even close. The transmission is just insane. Will post pics soon, it is black/black tons of CF. Having owned 2 scuds and now this car there is no debate, this car is on another level.

Haha, this kind of banter makes me so jealous I'm not further along in life so I could experience it (only 24).

I have this recurring nightmare that by the time I'm old enough to afford these things no cars like it will exist. I feel like I'm missing out on an event that will never happen again...

    grrr.....

find something ur passionate about, bust ur ass, remember life is a marathon, not a sprint, u will be fine. fwiw out of all my cars the 355 still gives me butterflies, so u dont necessarily need the latest and greatest to experience the passion. good luck.

Amazing how many guys are swapping from scud to 458. Surprising but I get it....cus I did it. Ricky is right. As weeks go bymit becomes more and more of an addiction.

I appreciate the kind advice, and I definitely plan on "getting there." I guess what I was saying is that I wish I were born 30 years earlier so that I could be in on the action now instead of later, when I fear this type of car won't be made or even allowed. It'd be shame if, when I have the means, nothing of this sort gets produced anymore.

Do you all find it easier to get by with? Is it more useful in more situations?

The scud always seemed so close to the bleeding edge of race/road car that it would be hard to use in a lot of scenarios.

my experience with the 458 is 100% driveable around town and on a daily basis. leave it in sport u can have a cell phone conversation over bluetooth and its docile like anything. put it in race, slam the gas, and make sure ur fingers arent asleep because the thing shreds thru the rpms like the devil is chasing u....458 is an amazing mix of a car u can drive to the track, rip up the track, and drive right back home and do a conf call and enjoy the AC.

But what if it goes the other way? What if when you and I (I'm 23) are far enough along to experience these cars that ours will be on a completely different level above the 458. Glass half full i guess. If we had asked some of the guys on here who bought ferrari's in the 80's what they thought back then i bet the 458 wouldnt be what they imagined. We'll get there man just a matter of time.

BACK TO THREAD: Im happy for you that you are enjoying this car so much and i hope to be sharing the experience with you sooner than later. Enjoy it in good health.

Paul, no spider for me but I have signed a bill of sale for the scud version. Not sure when it will get built or even announced by Ferrari but when it does, then you can take my car. At least she will be broken in by then!

Got mine last week. B/B lots of options.
The word insanity does not describe it.
The feel, sounds, and that transmission.
    A work of art.

I gotta agree. Of all the fcars I have ever owned, this takes my breath away every time I venture out in it. The agility and speed is insane. Non stop power and the grip is unreal. Had a buddy out tonight in the car and he was like a crack addict when I would blip through the gears!

I had a Scud and a 16M. When I got my Scud, there was no doubt in my mind that it was the best road car that I had ever driven. But that was in mid-2008. 2 years ago and a lifetime of advancement in electronics, gearbox, etc. As much as I loved the Scud, I do not miss it for even a moment. The 458 is simply amazing. I am not bashing the Scud at all. But reality I am afraid is that it was rendered a classic car by the 458 just like the 575 was by the 599.

You should consider giving F1 a try as you are really talented to "blow away" a much faster car while driving a slower car

I agree with you. That "mix" you speak of is something Porsche was able to deliver in its flagship models, but that always eluded the 8 cyclinder Ferraris. After the track, my F car would go in the garage; after the track, I'd just drive my Porsches to and fro. Now, the 458 lends itself to doing the same, meaning these cars might actually show some mileage as people feel comfortable and enjoy driving them more on daily outings.
