599 Goats are invading North America as we speak!! Rumbling, radical and as rambunctious as any 660 hp beast would be if it were turned loose on roads littered with the likes of Prius, Cambry, or Lexus SUVs :)

And, although I'm stuck out of town and can't yet collect mine, this afternoon I ran across a post by Master Joe Sackey--known to most as an expert "old Goat".

He provided pics and a video link to a special group called: Club 40--all dedicated and apparently active F40 owners.

    Seemed a simply great idea!

It struck me to take the Goat by the horns and see if we can create a special, informal club dedicated only to Ferrari GTO owners...

So, if you'd be interested or think it a good idea, over the next week or so, let me know by posting your thoughts.

If not, no harm, no foul--

In the mean time, I'll get my guys to pull together a dedicated web address and special facebook page. And if there's enough interest, I'll also try see if we can get Rob to provide a special "members only" FChat spot with a direct link.

The only rule for membership would be that you must be a Ferrari GTO owner--yes, any model (250, 288 and 599). "Membership" would be open to owners around the world.

As for the most important part--the club's name, I'd appreciate it you'd post any thoughtful or creative ideas.

And if its chosen--know you'll be a "Knight of the Wheel" and forever enshrined in the Goat Hall of Fame....

Yes Fonzie, Italy MUST CERTAINLY be represented...happy to have you join the gang. Still considering ideas for names...

A couple ideas to get the thought process started:

"Mad Goat Society" aka "Ferrari GTO Owners Group"

"Red Goat Gang" aka "International Society of GTO Owners"

    Ideas? Need them asap... :)

    i'm in :)

in my view, probably best to avoid "goat" ... it recalls the old Pontiac GTO's from the 60's for me (yes, i know that Pontiac "stole" the moniker, without even knowing what it means. But it stuck :( ).

i like something classy, without being cutesy ... like 'GTO Owners Club'

Glad to hear it, a fellow Texan is more than welcome.

Appreciate your thought on Pontiac tie...my thoughts are that the actual name would be something more of that order--as noted: Ferrari GTO Owners Society...as example. But, I'm hoping to make it fun as well...to wit: I was thinking (dangeous I know) of the possibilities as I drove up to Austin this am (yes, I'm in town today/tomorrow), and the site/page and communications and info tied to it could be nicely squared with a fun, side moniker, too...

    Ideas? Keep them coming, please!

    Federation of Ferrari GTO Owners

    or

    Ferrari GTO Owners Association

    either works

or if it's an underground society, you could name it: "The League of Extraordinary Gentleman~a society of GTO owners."

    ;)

Paul, here is my .02 with regards to the name.

The basis (as you rightfully mentioned in your 1st post) is that it's a "club" for GTO owners (250, 288 and 599). These owners are passionate about Ferrari in general but certainly about the GTO Moniker which is special and has only been awarded 3 times in the history of Ferrari.

With the 250 GTO, Ferrari created a myth, an icon. With the arrival of the 288 GTO, the GTO family was born and it has lived up to its expectations. It also added more mystique to the GTO moniker.

With the arrival of the 599 GTO, Ferrari (imo) delivered another great driver's car, worthy of the name GTO as Ferrari has given it that name. Who are we to argue about this? All I can say is that I feel that Ferrari has not used the GTO moniker for the 3rd member of the family without thinking about it twice. The 250 GTO and 288 GTO are "legends" in my opinion and the 599 GTO may become a legend over time, knowing that it may be the last hardcore, front engine V12 coming out of Maranello for years to come.

Keeping all of the above in mind, the following name captures most of this:

CLUB GTO - La Leggenda Continua
