+1 I too am going to try my best to not make this into an argument, but yes he tested and tested and tested looking deep into the soul of every racing car he ever had. He cannot do that now, and these tires and the weak front end is killing his method of driving. He has never ever had a tire issue until his return where these skinny tires force him to wrestle the bloody thing. Ah well.
Be that as it may every other driver out there has to operate under those same rules. As I see it there are two possible explanations. One is that Michael's talents were in perfect sync with the cars and rules of his first time around and he can't cope as well with the new situation. The second is that his talents have faded with time. To accept the first is to deny him much of his greatness. The second simply affirms his humanity.
I just don't think he has had this large an issue in prior years. A loss of mech grip for his style is truly crippling. You may be very right though. We're not drivers so this is all conjecture I guess.
But if not for idle speculation of what use would the web be? BTW if a lack of Mechanical grip was an issue to him he'd never have been any good in the wet. I don't recall him having such trouble in the days of Schumi 1.0.
I'm not sure if rain is a good judge of if your car has the kind of mechanical grip necessary for dry conditions. Just different I guess because everyone is sliding around. X factor. Regardless, qualifying is going to be interesting. My guess is it will take place let's say Tuesday lol.
No Qualifying on Tues. Someone might mistake it for an illegal testing session If Q is rained out they can hold it Sunday morning. Its been done before. Or just pull positions out of a hat.
http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/statistics/nico-rosberg-vs-team-mate-2010/ down at the bottom is the latest race results. What I found most shocking was that when Nico crashed, Schu's lap times went down over 1 second a lap through the end of the race with the exception being the very last lap. It's clear that after Schu's pit stop he was held up by Nico. He kept inching up to Nico and then clearly backing off. A shunt with his teammate would have sent the media spinning in silliness. Great result for the old man especially on such a demanding track.
I agree. Whats even more encouraging is Michael fastest lap was over a second faster than Nico once he got around him. Even compared to the Redbull's his fastest lap was not that bad.
LOL. we have to give credit where it's due, especially after the huge s&*tslinging sessions that have been so prevalent lately against the fellow.
A consistent 1 second difference once Nico was out of his way convinced me plenty, but I understand where you are coming from. Could be a freak occurence and Nico's car could have been off. 1 second is still a substantial amount though. There was another article that just came out yielding the upgrades have been going to Nico first. Feels different for Schu now that he is not on the receiving end of the first upgrades.
I hadn't heard that. If true it sounds like Michael has really given up on this year's car. This weekend was so flukey in so many respects that I find it hard to draw any conclusions. Let's see how (if?) things shake out in Korea.
Lots of medium and fast corners at this new track which makes it somewhat similar to Suzuka. Should be a good one. S1 should be a fly in the ointment for Mercedes while Mclaren will dominate in S1. S2 and S3 is all Red Bull country. We'll see.
Man MS is being a bit rich isn't he. All his career he has got preferrential treatement over his team mates and now he is slow(er) and doesn't he runs to the press. He used to deserve the upgrades first, now he does not. Shut up man (MS) and relearn to drive. Pete
I see this as further attempts by Haug/Brawn/MS to justify why the MB board shouldn't fire MS. Just like the telemetry data.
http://www.crash.net/f1/news/164214/1/schumacher_mine_and_nicos_cars_have_not_always_been_the_same.html The car worked great this time, 'Schumi' told German broadcaster RTL post-race in Japan. Unfortunately, I cannot say it has been that way at all the races. There have often been problems especially on my car, in terms of the consistency that were not always noticed from the outside. You only saw that I was slower, [but] both cars have not always been the same. Amidst recent rumours that his seat could be in danger in 2011 as the pressure mounts on employer Mercedes to achieve solid on-track results, the 41-year-old went on to rubbish notions that the Brackley-based outfit's team principal and his long-time ally Ross Brawn has been openly critical of him of late. He didn't really criticise me, Schumacher told Sky. He pointed out that compared to Nico [Rosberg team-mate] I am a little bit behind, and he is probably right. I have also criticised myself. I am still developing, even at 41! I cannot disagree with Michael, concurred Mercedes-Benz Motorsport Vice-President Norbert Haug, speaking to German newspaper Bild. As far as the car is concerned, he is right. What I am taking from this - I am hoping is not slanted - is that he was stating it as a more matter-of-fact statement rather than, "I was slower due to the car". His statement that he is still developing is an honest admission that he is still learning which I believe is very respectful to the sport and to Nico.
