Interesting observation. I guess if the boss up that says that they want a bigger market, they have to go "soft" & user friendly.

Pagani used to offer only manual gearboxes & now offers F1 to retrofit for their earlier models as well but seriously, I had a jab @ a 930 few weeks ago, it was terrible. Super heavy steering, cranky gearbox....& very slow shift. It's digital age now so gearboxes are shifting by milliseconds & on trackdays, that counts.

He's probably busy using it for those sort of "home videos" that Pam and Tommy were doing :D.

Jus having a friendly chat with my friend who bought the California. Any idea stock to stock, which one is faster on track let say sepang, F430 or California?

F430 have 40 more horses, mid engine n 300kg lighter while California have Dual Clutch gearbox. He feel that California is faster but I disagree as F430 is mid engine too. 0-100km, California is faster by 0.1sec according to specs sheet.

    Anyone have any views?

This might be a case where technology trumps pure skill. The dual clutch will easily make the California seem faster on the straights and under hard acceleration IMHO. However in terms of handling the California seems much softer and the steering a tad too light compared to the F430 which gives you more of the traditional Ferrari "feel".

Hi, I always feel that weight to power ratio plus the mid engine config will put F430 in a huge advantage. How slow can the 430 F1 gearbox chg be? In Race Mode the change is quite fast and brutal.

Anyway, anyone that track both 430 n California can provide some insight?

    Cheers!

It depends on who's driving? :)

I haven't driven the Cali enough to have an opinion, but I'd be curious to know the answer as well.

I do know that the Cali doesn't turn heads like the 430 though. I was sitting next a lovely white Cali with black roof at the Orchard/Scotts traffic lights & I don't think anyone apart from myself noticed the Cali.

Totally agreed about turning head factor. 355, 360 n 430 all attract more attention. Of course the 458 is the most head turner now but non F fans don't really know how to differentiate yet.

As for the track, I'm refering to same driver for a fair comparison.

Interesting Q. Has anyone here tracked the Cali? How about international owners?

Any official Fiorano track times? I reckon that would be the best benchmark depending on conditions of course.

Official track time from factory might be skew due to marketing n sales purposes.

I check Evo mag, could not find the comparison. F430 do 7.55mins in Nurburing though.
