-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not sure what is going on with my car, but hope someone can help. This 360 just had a new center transmisson mount installed as well as both lower motor mounts. When you back up and turn, you can feel something moving around. It feels like a bad motor mount or trans mount. Seeing how all that is new now, we have been trying to trace down the problem. When you back up you can feel and hear something hitting. When you take off and turn left or right you can feel and hear a chattering or rumbling. Once you straighten the car out everything is perfect. It almost feels like the entire rear end is shifting. But under careful inspection, we can't find anything moving. Both CV Axles has alot of movement from left to right, but I am told that they are supposed to do that. If you push in the clutch pedal the problem goes away. Also we checked the rear differential fluid and it is clean and on the mark. Thanks in advance for any help!
Could be a CV Axle but for $1000.00 a side just for parts I am still trouble shooting. I was told a differential fluid change with friction modifier may take care of the problem. I will let you know. Thanks!
I had the exact same problem. New transmission mounts, new motor mounts, axles fine, transmission fine, etc. Friction modifier temporarily fixed the problem but the shifting was hosed (too difficult to shift, grinding, not finding gears, cracked shifter bushings). We took the friction modifier out and those problems went away but the chattering returned. Then.................. We replaced the regular Redline gear oil with the Redline lightweight shockproof gear oil. The chattering has completely disappeared, and the car shifts 10 times better than it ever has. Make sure you get the lightweight (as opposed to the medium weight or the super light weight) and make sure it is the shockproof gear oil.
Mike. Who recommended you that oil ??? Brian ?? Is that Redline lightweight shockproof gear oil good for everyday use or do you track the car ?? Thanks !!
I use that exact oil with some friction additive. Ray, Robin and Brian recommend it on one great thread.
This is the thread I was referring to; http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=232463&highlight=Red+line+gear
Well I am going with what you suggested Chris. I will let you know how it all turns out. Probably next week some time before I get the oil in. Thanks again!
Just serviced the rear diff with Redline oil and friction modifier. Within 20 miles of driving, the problem is gone! Thanks for all the tips!
