Anyone have the new Tmobile G2? What do you think? Does flash really work on it yet?

I'm a huge fan of my G1 but had to leave Tmo this month because they only offer 1-G data connections in my area (I moved from Dallas to West Texas last year)

When my contract with Tmo expired I signed up with Sprint and got an Intercept last week, but I hate it already. Ergro sux! I'm attracted to the EVO but it's been out a while, and doesn't have a keyboard. I have about 2 more weeks under my 30 day money back guarantee to decide what to do.

Data speeds with Sprint are much better than Tmo.

Rooting and Modding support are a must for me, (Cyanogenmod FTW). The G2 ships with Android 2.2, and I'm thinking about going back to Tmo just because of that, and I'll continue to suffer the slow over-the-air data connection for the time being.

Am I speaking greek, or does anyone else see my dilemma?

I tried a Nexus and flash worked really good there and it was 2.1, supposedely TMob has an almost 4G option.

The one that get great reviews are the Incredible and the Epic (I think they are verizon no data and voice at the same time)

I cyano'ed my oldie trusty G1 withe the Froyo 2.2 and it works decently a bit slow tho on TMob flash is flaky due to the hardware a bit old but it is my good test mule to test some code I'm writing

IMO the coolest Android phone out there is the new Samsung one... That's the only one I've seen that I'd give up my iPhone 4 for.

I have a Samsung Captivate and I love it although we are having a heck of a time getting it to sync with my work e-mail.

Funny thing... There's a local dealer that opened up a T-Mobile retail location TODAY.

I went in and talked with the location owner and his district manager... they operate stores across West Texas. They committed to opening this store because T-Mobile committed to them that they would have their HSPA+ (4g) network live in Q1 2011. If this guy invested the money to build out a store, and hire employees based on T-Mobile's promise, I believe him.

I played with a real G2, feels awesome, the screen is awesome, and it's running 2.2 out of the box.

So tomorrow I'll cxl sprint, pick up the G2, and happily, patiently wait until their HSPA+ network is live in Q1 2011.

I never could get my Cyano'd G1 with Froyo 2.2 to work with Flash 10.1. I thought I read it was a hardware issue that meant it would never work.

It will be interesting to see how these do: Cheaper, simpler Android phones to hit market this fall

I haven't really shopped for a smartphone but it seems the closeout deals on previous gen smartphones should serve a big portion the entry/affordable market. That said, data plan pricing is a big factor and is the reason my family has message phones instead of a smartphones.

Interesting article: Android sign of a more businesslike Google

It's worth the read if interested in the business side.

See the thecarreaper's Smartphone App help.....? thread for his experience.

I have had the Samsung Epic since the beginning of September and love it. The screen is stunning, the slide-out keyboard was the reason I chose this over the HTC EVO, and the video quality beats my camcorder. The battery life is about average for these type of phones, definitely recommend Juice Defender. The 4G (whether it is truly 4G depends on who you talk t0) speed in Atlanta when coupled with the built-in WiFi router works great.

Got the G2 yesterday coming from a G1.

Vast improvement, everything feels better and it feels like a true upgrade. Recommended to anyone that wants a phone with a real keyboard. I love the way the phone feels (solid, great materials no quality concerns, it feels as much as it costs) and I can't see how anyone could be disappointed by it coming from a G1. It does everything better, I enjoy the 'swype' texting which makes texting easy when your not using the keyboard for shorter texts. Among the many improvements I really like the improved the Camera/flash/HD video and the 8GB memory card.

Just a brief analysis I have only been using it for a few hours and I'm sure there's tons I haven't mentioned.

this guy seemed a bit irked with all the preinstalled bloatapps that couldn't be uninstalled as the phone hasn't been rooted yet. also, apparently there are some weird reception issues where the phone will show 4 bars then suddenly have no signal, much like AT&T esp iPhones.

I'm very interested in this phone once a few of these kinks are worked out, esp once they root the phone so I can uninstall the bloat and load some lean tweaks.
