What are they smoking in Maranello these days ? Thats Craptastic, looks like the 90s BMW Z3 coupe Looks like Ferrari's Cayenne
An AWD 2+2 makes a lot of sense for Ferrari, given how these cars are intended to be used and what the competition offers. The shooting brake aspect? I'm reserving judgement until I see one, but I have my doubts...
Well not exactly zero history; Ferrari did a couple of prototypes called the 408 with the engine behind the driver and 4WD all in a suprisingly light weight package. That was so long ago now most of the guys who worked on it are retired... The competition has 4WD products so there is some interest in following that trend at Ferrari. CH

Breadvan! God I am such a fanboy. I really hope they dont screw this up. They are on a roll with the 458 and the GTO. We need a real monster here.
After seeing every 2+2 out there including the new Aston, I think the current 612 is the best looking version. The units are pushing out in the mid 300's and the new ones will most likely reach 400. At 400k whatever it is they bring out is going to be a very very hard sell. I love Ferrari and what they do is grand but this market has a lot of competition. Aston Porsche Maserati Bentley all at half the price! Please don't tell me that the Aston is not friggin beautiful and those doors that swing up are very trick along with the finest interior I have ever laid eyes on. The 612 should have been given the 599 engine some and simple 458 appointments - the end.
I kind of like the sketches, but not as a replacement. Maybe another model, probably not, but do not replace the 612 with this, please.
I think we have to accept that Ferrari has more competition in each of it's 4 segments than ever before. The 456/612 category is probably the most daily-driver of any F-model, just look at mileages of pre-owned models. They're also the most expensive - so the new model had better tick all the competitor boxes or it won't sell. Given how many markets have brutal cold winters, 4x4 at lower speeds is probably a no-brainier. Shooting-brake is almost de-facto in this class now if you want to have usable rear seats - and beautiful as it is Aston Rapide doesn't seat comfortably in the rear because of the roof line. The sketch is far more reminiscent of the 456 than the 612 thankfully - as we've all gotten used to the looks of the 612, but beautiful it certainly isn't. It's grown on us with bigger wheels, 2-tone paint etc. But Its still ungainly and badly proportioned - let's not kill the replacement spec by making the 612 out to be so beautiful - the 456 still looks better today, and that's a pretty old design!
You are comparing the 456 to the 612? Let's go around the track and finish at the Scaglietti line The 456 is a great car ... but the 612 was the Mother Ship for Ferrari and the price confirms it.
Ferrari is amazing when it comes to morphing their line up. I just do not think the customer list has a taste for a 400k 2+2. Now toss in a Enzo engine and some light mods from the 458 at 275k base and you have something. At 200k the list gets small, when you get to 250 it shrinks again and again at 300. 375 - 425k for a 2+2 ... I don't see it flying out the door.
i imagine it will look something like this too http://www.coachbuild.com/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=50&g2_itemId=43172 or this http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/05/25-flying-star-630op.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.germancarblog.com/2010/05/bentley-working-on-shooting-brake/&usg=__AkhwLrZweXTNXi75WAju6T9R85U=&h=307&w=630&sz=24&hl=en&start=331&zoom=1&tbnid=PSi9HkHw6aEpZM:&tbnh=118&tbnw=242&prev=/images%3Fq%3Daston%2Bmartin%2Bshooting%2Bbrake%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Den%26biw%3D1226%26bih%3D615%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C10984&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=865&vpy=369&dur=6238&hovh=157&hovw=322&tx=163&ty=93&ei=jPK5TJ37MsmEswbpyoC0DQ&oei=_PC5TIOcFsfHswbf55SnDQ&esq=25&page=23&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:14,s:331&biw=1226&bih=615
Through the years, station wagon or shooting brake versions of 2 door coupes have been extremely attractive and very practical. All the way back to mid-50s Corvette show cars and production Chevrolets and the Aston Martin DB series. No reason why Pininfarina cannot come out with one that is a show stopper. Nothing wrong with all-wheel-drive either. It has been on the 911 Turbo for years and on most Lamborghinis recently. Hard to say those are not sporty cars. Taz Terry Phillips

The shooting brake type is the future of GT cars. If the new Ferrari four seat car is anything like the Vandenbrink design, it will rock. I wonder if other companies will follow suit? A Jaguar 2+2 in this style would be interesting, as would an Alfa 8C. The Aston concept posted in this thread is awesome, although the rear doors seem unnecessary
im glad i found a 2008 612 oto with 800 miles that i paid $210k that had a window of $355k and love that car so much that it gets more use than my other ferrari's and i get my family to enjoy it too . when the new 612 comes out with a $400k price im not going to run out and buy one , thats for sure !!!
