Explaining Ferrari

Why are diamonds better than cubic zirconia ? To some, they both just sparkle... but for people who can appreciate that which sparkles, they know that there's all the difference in the world between the two.

Ferraris are cars, as are SUVs and Minivans... but with very large and very important differences.

My uncle said something, and I tried to defend it, but I just told him, there is a certain thing that you cannot explain unless you've seen or heard the cars.

Explaining it to non-car people is complicated. They don't understand the history or racing heritage.

 

I'd just say, please shut up before I have to slap you.

If they don't get it, don't bother trying to explain. I downplay ownership by saying it's just a car.

In the southern USA we would say that Ferrari is the "bees knees".We would acknowledge this and nod knowingly!

In my terms: There simply isnt anything else like it. The sound, the smell, the connection with the road, the way a Ferrari communicates with the driver can almost be telepathic.

Car people know and understand. They look, stare, and give thumbs up when I drive by. Non-car people don't care, don't know, and will never understand...so why even waste time trying to explain. Probably the equivalent is why most of us (guys) could care less and would probably not notice what designer name handbag or shoes our wives are wearing when all of their girlfriends immediately notice and compliment the bag / shoes. Heck, some womens' shoes cost $800 for a pair of heels when one could buy a pair of shoes at Target for $20....of course the shoes can't go 185 mph.

If one doesn't know the history, the drivers, design, statistic in racing, and the reputation, then they will never understand Ferrari.

I'm a car guy and I enjoy Ferraris. They will say.....oh, then walk away. Easy and simple because they won't get it. My Dad likes his Model A more than my Ferrari, to each their own.

 

Absolutely. Jay Leno loves Steam cars and have never been a Ferrari fan. Does that make him wrong? Nope.

But for someone to try to explain it to Jay would just be a waste of time -- just like his fascination with Steam would be to you.
