It'd be a sad day if/when they cut the Australian GP. That continent deserves its own GP.

I'm also unhappy that Todt doesn't want/see an African GP in the making.

Enough already with the Asian and Middle Eastern GPs. Toss some of those out to make room.

How about another 1-2 South American race?

I'd like to see a second South American race, but before that I think it would be more important to include Africa as a continent.

The only problem I have with Africa is that we wouldn't be able to hear the cars over the vuvuzelas...

    LOL

I have one from the world cup :)

Kyalami would be cool back on the calendar or the Morocco GP

I'm actually surprised Bernie hasn't yet made a deal with Ghadaffi. I'm sure that guy has plenty of $$$, an ego big enough and would like to beef up tourism and prestige of his country.

No mention of Rome. Guess it doesn't stand a chance.

Simply from a touristic perspective: I could plan about 5 different trips out of Rome (Rome, Sicily, Sardinia, Amalfi coast, Maranello). It'd be a perfect base and cover 5 years of F1
Unlike most F1 races which only are interesting for just 1 trip

Street races suck - all of 'em. I hope Rome never makes it to the calendar.

Vacations are great, but vacations and F1 races are two different things. We could have 19 interesting locations for a holiday and 19 boring-as-hell F1 races. And then there would be no F1 because nobody would watch.

Ergo, the quality of the race is infinitely more important than the quality of the destination.

    IMO.

Calling one of the most beautiful and culturally/historically rich cities on the planet "Istinkbul" is really low class. BTW: As a track to visit AND to watch on TV it brings awesome battles (remember Vettel vs Webber, Rosberg vs Schumacher and Button vs Hamilton just this year?) and its layout is the best of all the Tilke designs because it actually has elevation changes.

Hungaroring is a beautiful track to vist. Another hugely historic city nearby and a track laid into the hills where spectators can see way much more than just the piece in front of them. Unlike Monza I might add.

We've been here before, but lets rehash it one more time.

I get your arguments. I really do. And I also agree that street circuits suck.

However in this day and age new F1 tracks stay often only a few years until their contract is up and the organizers realize they've been had by Bernie and won't extend. So *IF* Rome really signs on, I would think it'll last maybe 5 years (USGP anybody?) and then go away. Those 5 years however will give me plenty of time to visit Rome/Italy and an annual GP race.

Just doing a 9 hour trans Atlantic flight with all its discomfort/timezone change/costs for a GP is IMHO ludicrous and not worth the effort. That's why I combine it with an annual vaca in Europe. Even if I could afford it, I simply wouldn't do a F1 race alone. I'm a big fan (as most on here know) but the races aren't that great to go through all that trouble for just one race. You probably see that different since you're just starting out on that path, but give it some time and you'll start to see a GP less of a main attraction, but just one other cool thing to do while on a beautiful trip.

Anyway, it is meaningless what you and I think about Rome anyway. If it happens, good. If it doesn't, well there are other places to visit.
