I can't hear about the "scrap heap" without recalling Phil Hill's tale, told to me over dinner at my house one time: Years after gaining the championship, Phil visited the old man, and was having a nice chat with him, when Phil, just making conversation, asked what ever happened to the pile of old parts out back, and the old man went into a rage, accusing Phil of only visiting him to try to get the stuff in the pile. Poor Phil didn't even know how to respond!
This tale tells us that Enzo did, indeed, know what he had out back.
Of course, A. Bamford was eventually successful in liberating at least some of it.

My friend was racing Moto-X at the Bridgehampton, NY circuit back in the '80s when he snapped these at a Ferrari event running the same day. Anyone recognize the cars or care to identify/claim ownership?

Joe Rosen, who was then President of the Northeastern region, had an LM? That might be his.

Found this on a website, the thing to do in 1954-1956. Vanwall, Mercedes, Maserati and Ferrari all made aero F1 cars. This body was scrapped along with the chassis by the Ferrari factory.

Not sure who took the photo. Personal use only.

Two rare pictures of a 275 LM, probably s/n 6107 when campaigned in South America: the first one, was taken in 1970 in Perú and published in a Castrol brochure; the second, taken in 1971 at the Yahuarcocha Circuit in Ecuador and published in the front cover of a local "Carburando" magazine. It was driven in both cases by Fausto Merrello.
