I wondered where Ferrari got the idea from! See this link: http://www.coachbuild.com/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=50&g2_itemId=1593 And also the attached pictures. I agree. The Shooting Brake is back and here to stay. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Those sketches are very, very close to what I've seen. As in, whoever drew them has seen it. The delay, as I'm told, is due to styling tweaks on the rear end.
Michael . . . I don't know how you do it. You make chicken s--- look like filet mignon. Not wild about the car, but your designs are, as usual, beautiful.. Now, will somebody please tell me what a Shooting Brake is. I know the history and I know the cars and I know the Breadvan. But I'd like to understand shooting brake.
Unfortunately, authentic(ish) design sketches usually look better than the real item... Hence the issue, because, let's face it - that looks like a hound.
Shooting Brake is from the days when normal cars were a biot higher in the ground clearance, 20-30-ies,, and these cars were used to go hunting, in the fields. Therefore, a number of passengers were carried, and the brakes were applied for the point in time to make the shooting.
These sketches show a lot of resemblance with following spyshots: http://www.1001ch.com/nouvelle-ferrari-612-spyshot/
So let me get this straight. The 612 Scaglietti replacement is an AWD shooting brake. Is this confirmed? I'm not that lucky.
Ya, each dealer is taking some of its customers for the 151 to maranello for a car preview. I am supposed to go, if my dealer gives me the information on time. Will keep you posted.
Here is something I found: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDX4kIVO7T8 Seems the shooting brake ideas are not too far off.
I believe we are coming to a time we have never seen in regards to buying a great Ferrari - with the combination of poor economic times and the intro of new models( 612 & 458) there will be unbelievable deals this spring and summer - Suds are already available @$200 plus or minus. Anybody that has really driven one knows how awesome they are and where will the price be by summer. The 612 can already be had for less then $150,00 and the new one is not even out yet. Can you imagine getting one for a little over $100,00 - a world class V12!! Not good news for some but great unprecedented times for a new buyer - I think there will be opportunities we have never seen befrore
