I find this whole theme a bit distasteful. Yes some atempts to replicate are hard to look at/not our cup of tea. Many if they were completed will/could/do fool many. But remember Henry Ford's 32 was an attempt to copy a Duesenberg. People like Carrol Shelby have put the 'kit' business on pins and needles.

The original intent of the 'kit' industry was to recycle cars and have fun. Good people with limited funds and time rich have/can build a work of art, and some are just that extreme works of art at the highest level. What's that expression; ''imitation is the sincerest form of flattery''

The really crappy cars are those who take an rotten frame then spend 200K to make a new body even more perfect than the original, recreate everything then have the guts to call the car an 'original' rather than call it what it is, as nothing original is left. An original is only original once.

I haven't seen anyone say: ''Oh that's a 328 or that Mondial, weakest excuse for a F-car''. Everyone enters the market where they can or think they can. Everyone here had made scarifices in order to buy their car, let's be nice about it. This whole theme is really nasty.

Because they get the looks and the performance but don't have to pay $ 30k for a clutch replacement.

    Yes and no.

There is a lot of snobbery when people come on here to laugh or snicker at a well done replica or recreation.

However there are some ridiculous cases where people slam a fibreglass kit on a Fiero and call it a F40. They deserve all the ridicule in the world.

Disclaimer: I used to own a Daytona replica on Corvette basis. But eventually I got rid of it because it never looked and felt like the real deal. It was a pointless exercise because it was based on an already tired car and poorly done. However some of the more modern kit cars use custom made frames and powerful engines. Whether it is a Noble, a Superformance or a racecar replica from Detroit I'd be happy and proud to own one of those replicas. Not to fool the neighbours (they're already impressed by my 308) but because it looks like a dream and drives like one.

Yikes - not only does it look terrible... it's a cut and shut. 1984 front end and 1988 rear end.

Is it weird that I actually don't think that one's too bad?

    All the best,
    Andrew.

This thing is a beauty! I don't know about you guys but I've been holding my breath for a T-top Ferrari since I was a young boy. Moreover, the GM 5 speed transmission is absolutely brilliant. In addition, you're all blind if you don't see the F50/360 bloodline.

If the owner agrees to throw in a few bottles of Aqua Velva I can't see how anyone can pass.

Mostly because that particular car isn't actually supposed to be a Ferrari... If I recall correctly, it is just a restyle kit that claims to have "Italianesque" lines.

I'd actully love to have one of those, though when I got done with it would not look like a Daytona knock-off.

Ya gotta love the great fit and finish!

That wood interior and steering wheel are simply hideous. I think I'll skip dinner...
