No kidding. But....it wouldn't be factory. The factory installed strip is what counts. I was talking to Andrew about what happens if you damage the factory stripe in a minor accident. I think a Stradale would take the same hit in value whether it was factory stripe or not even if you have to replace part of the stripe (hood damage for example).
It's the fact that the car was a factory stripe car that ups the value, even if the stripe has been partially replaced. But either car would suffer diminished value.

By the way, does anyone have experience with insurance paying a "diminished value" loss as pertains to a Stradale repair? A Stradale suffering even a minor accident that has been repaired well will still suffer a 10-15K hit on value.

I believe most insurers say claims for diminished value are not payable under comprehensive or collision coverages (excluding Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee). Most insurance policies say that when the car is damaged, the insurer will pay the cost of repairing the car or its actual cash value (when the car is considered a total loss). In most policies there is no mention of coverage for diminished value, and the payment of diminished value was not factored when rates were established. The devil is in the details. You need to read your policy carefully. My personal preference is to have the stripe on a CS. But if I were looking at a CS without a stripe, I would deduct $$$ if it didn't have one.

The stripe premium interesting. I think there are buyers for all types of CS. I was specifically looking for a non stripe, non alcantara interior best condition TDF with extinguisger and radio. When I boiled it down there were only a few well cared for not abused or tracked cars that fit my criteria.

You can always add a stripe if you want that look later, but you can never take the factory stripe off when you get tired of it.

Maybe higher mileage ones. 130-135 more like it.

To all CS potential buyers: Do not nickel and dime on a CS, its worth paying up for the right car.

Two in Dallas can be bought in that range. It seems like there is some softening in the market for the CS? Especially for the non-stripe cars. Is this because the inventory is fairly static or because of the new 458 being available? Maybe it's just because the economy still is in the dumps?

I think it is in part due to your comments and also guys that are selling to get into a different Ferrari model. I just sold my 575 to maybe look at getting a 360CS.

No, they're not 'all' down to 125... just some are down to that level. FWIW, avg 'asking' is 152k which includes both stripe and non-stripe varietals.

True, there are buyers for all types of CS's; striped, non-striped, red ones, yellow ones, black ones, blue ones, orange one, green one, etc. It'd actually suck if they were ALL striped. I'd like to add a non-striped one someday as well.

Onto your second point, I've never heard of a single owner with a factory striped CS who became tired of the stripe and wished to trade for a non-striped. However, I have heard many CS owners adding aftermarket stripes, trading for a striped CS or wishing they had patiently waited for an OEM stripe CS. Some like it, some don't... to each his own. I happen to like them both for different reasons. Easy solution for me is to have one of both. :) Brian, you got a beautiful color combo, launch proper and all. You know that when you get ready to sell that whip you'll likely have buyers lined up.

    +1

Economy in the crapper plus some cars have been sitting for awhile.

Dom, maybe a CS?? You need to drive one and that 'maybe' will turn into a 'will buy' a CS. :)

For me the stripe would have to have been discounted, rather than have a premium! As they say, there is a butt for every seat!

I have to concur with the other CS owners.... don't nickel and dime and waste time. I have had allot of Ferrari's and the CS is a brilliant car. Easily the best driver's car since the F40.

You won't regret the purchase........ but you will regret selling it.

What is the breakdown by number of the different seat sizes? Are most of the medium?

CS seats were offered in small, medium and large. Large by far the most common and most comfortable, especially for normal street driving. Mediums might be OK for track use, but otherwise restrictive. Plus, large going to be better for resale.
