In my opinion the fault is not yours. Putting the handbrake on in the pits while the brakes are still really hot is one thing, but that wasn't not even what happened. The negatives of handbrakes in pits aren't even related to cracking.. much more related to pad material transferring to the disc and ruining it, fire risk, etc.

In a performance brake system the peak thermal loads are by far, focused around the braking events. Braking events are relatively short events lasting around 5 seconds max even at this pretty big track. Brake rotor temps with this class of car may peak around 600-700 deg C during the largest braking events, but just 3 seconds after that, will have immediately dropped some 200-300 deg C. In other words any time outside of a braking event, the brake system is almost immediately far under-stressed.

The cracking of the pads is due to the compound being selected for lower stress applications. I've run tests before on cars with identical and proper brake cooling and cooldown procedures, the same brake components, varying only pad compound. 4 compounds were tested.. the softest and worst one cracked clean across the pad and turned to a mess of smearing and powdering near the surface. Second worst was kind of like yours - small surface cracks slight smearing . Next one had no cracks just some very light smearing at the surface. Best one looked almost new with no sign of smearing anywhere, but this one was hardest on the rotors and had the worst low temperature characteristics by far (but great once at temp).

Besides the blistering issue, the tire shows starting signs of graining. As previously and always emphasized, perhaps try a slower warmup on cold tires - 2 laps going very linearly from 65% to 90%, no sliding. Bet that the tire in the photo in a front tire.. Hopefully some less sensitive tires are developed for the car, if not, it's worth giving these steps a try to minimize that sort of wear :)

    Excellent feedback and good suggestions.
I will write to Pagit a d see what they have anything that would suit. Workshop has also given feed back to the factory but I seriously doubt if they will respond.

    2.32 flat.
Theoretical is 2.30:2. I know w a clear track and Corsa tires it would be sub 30. Oh and if I switched off the aircon... time would be even faster hahaha.

Mate, pretty good is an understatement. Brand new car, on pure street tires. Not even semi slicks. Amazing timing given the circumstances me thinks. ;)

Was shooting the breeze with Lung and Jackson and wondered if any of you guys would be interested in an SMF Racing trip to KL for dinner followed by a track day early next year?

This would be a chance for less experienced track guys to just come on up for an evening of dinner, drinks and good company followed the next day by a track day amongst friends. The idea would be to keep the track day just to sensible adults with exotic cars.

We are deciding whether this will be a tie in between individuals from various car clubs, and SMF (with representations from Porsche, Ferrari and Lambo within its confines) and the Aston Club as well as a couple of Munich Auto customers or tieing it in with car clubs formally.

We may just run it just as an SMF event closed only for selected friends to ensure a safe event especially for those that are not hard core guys but would like to get a chance to cruise around Sepang, whether it be for the first time or only the second time. Experienced drivers will be on hand to show others the lines etc.

Would there be any interest from the (not) usual track day guys here?

Not yours tiong? I was doubtful about the claim being the only manual in the world. Very tempting this one, will be interesting to coe it in 8 yrs time!

I usually go easy for one extra lap but keep to the sides.

Lung isn't your car with CCB? Are the pads not diff from norm?

Very good for her virgin TD & considering u''ve not been hitting sepang as often.
