I am looking at manuals, is the 1996 manuals the same as the 1997? Same thing with the tool kits, are they the same?

    Thanks,
    Neil

There are no differences, mechanically, between the MY1996 and MY1997 cars, thus the owner's manuals contain identical information. The only difference would be the "title" on the cover of the manual. The tools kits should also be identical, although there is sometimes some variability to Ferrari tool kits among the same model year.

Wasn't there some minor-ish upgrade to the brakes?

    94-95 had gen 1 brakes
    96-97 had gen 2 brakes
    98-99 had gen 3 brakes

All generations had the same calipers and rotors.

Any idea on the differences? Different brand ABS? Different software or something like that?

I forgot about the brake system. You guys are correct. I think the earlier cars used a TEVES ABS system and the later/F1 cars used the Bosch ABS system.
