Hi, First of all let me introduce myself first. My name is Kamarul and I am from Malaysia. I have been lurking around here for past month or so after I decided to pick up 2007 599 to replace my DB9. I am glad I did and so far I have put about 1500 joyous miles in 2 weeks of ownership. I have no problem whatsoever with it and perfect GT car for me. It is better planted than DB9 and has heaps more power. Last weekend I took it up north on Malaysia (500km journey) and while at particularly high speed an "engine control system failure" lights came on. I called the workshop and he advised me to continue driving and to bring the car in ASAP. I did and nothing was wrong. He suspected dirty MAP sensors. Today when I drove the car at high rpm (lights on steering on), the car is knocking and jerking. It happened in all gear at high rpm. Has anyone experienced this before and what could be the problem? attached is the photo (before tint) sitting next to my LP640 and Ducati classic. Hi kamarul. Amazing stable. Glad you enjoy your 599. The combo doesn't seem to be common. What paint/leather is that ? Maybe more pictures... Really interesting 599. Edit : At first look I have read "saab" on the front of the 599. I was asking me why did he wrote that. After I understood it was your licence plate.
Congrats on getting a V12 Ferrari! As to the knocking and jerking perhaps some poor quality gasoline that is causing the knocking? It sometimes sounds like a rattle or pinging noise and if persistent can burn a hole in the top of the piston eventually. Best to check with the dealer rather than cause possible damage. CH
I will take some more photo in next couple of days and post. Yes, unfortunately, in Malaysia, we must display license plate both at the front and rear. Thanks for tips.
Thanks all, Just picked up the car from the dealer and it seems they managed to solved the problem. According to them the throttle was dirty. I have not get the chance to really test it but so far it seems to work.
Hi Kamarul & welcome to Fchat. I'm glad that they seem to have solved your issue .. keep us posted on whether the problem returns. Don't forget to join to Ferrari Owners Club .. the Singapore & Malaysian clubs are doing more JV events so I hope we get to meet up one of these days.
