Looks nice but it is at the top of 0the price range. It better be very well sorted with no issues to command that kind of money (I hope the seller gets his price).

    Regards,

I'd say $34,000 would be a fair price. Maybe the orange paint could be removed from the indicators, along with the horrible lights on the wings.

There's no paint on the indicators.. They're just cheap repros that don't fit right with the wrong coloring..

Hello gents. I'm in the Boston area and saw this car posted in Hemmings and Cavalino as well. I've contacted the seller via their website a couple times and tried calling and received no response. A couple weeks ago I went up to the address posted on their site and it's just a big industrial park with their name on the door. There didn't appear to be any hours, or showroom and definitely not traditional dealer. I mean how do you expect to sell a car if you don't get back to people who are interested?

I thought it was odd and worth noting...

I have seen other non Ferraris use 400 engines, like a Cobra kit car, some hot rods by Steve Moal, replica P3/4, a Firebird, etc. so I think bucks up hobbyists would always buy the engine in the future so the question is how much can you pay for the rest of the car? At $29K, that would be less than for a beater Honda accord.

I would find out the owner's name cut a cashier's check, send him a copy of it and since cash walks and you know what talks he might call you first. You can always turn the cashier's check back into the bank and maybe lose the $5.00 it cost to have it cut.
I'd give the seller a deadline as well...

Gentlemen, could someone copy the ads (including pictures) into this thread so that we can refer to them later they will soon be removed from ebay/craigslist.

    Thanks,

I'll try to attach a word document so that the pictures survive the transfer. A "new water pump" could be anything from a front seal replacement with the engine in the car to an engine out full water pump replacement or rebuild ($$$$).

Here is the ad for posterity:

for reference, could you let us know how it checks out; what the car needs, etc.. It would be nice to correspond the condition to the selling price for reference.

The 400i sn 32895 will be leaving my shop today and after looking it over and performing some minor services I believe it's a very good car. The body is super straight and the paint near flawless. All accessories and gauges function and the oem tool kit is as new.The ac blows cold, front and rear after a recharge and all the exteior lamps now function as designed. The engine is strong and a non smoker and pulls well thru the gears. It starts with no problems and is pretty leak free. Power is on par for the weight and it's definitely not a stop light racer. This is a big car compared to my 246 and 328 as they were side by side. The only fault I see are the oem TRX tires. Driving over tissue paper feels like a 2x4.

Thanks, Steve. Since the last report I saw was that the asking price was $29,900 it sounds as though the new owner got a good car for a very good price.

Do you know if the new owner will check in here on FChat?

I dont know the owner as it's going to the mid west some where. I was dealing with the broker Legendary Motors LLC in Ipswich Mass not far from here. I agree he or she is getting a nice car...

...but put it beside a 3 series Bimmer and it looks impossibly low and small...especially considering the giant, racebred V-12 that's shoehorned in there.
if the new owner is looking for Factory 15" wheels then let me know...15's and P4000's absolutely transform the car

certainly looks to have been well bought (ridiculously cheap in fact for what he seems to be getting).
i'm a big fan of the colour combo on this model...but they really do look great in so many combinations !

The buyer decided to back out of the deal for reasons unknown. The broker informed me of this a few days after the servicing was completed. The "buyer" was not returning calls at times and was hesitant to make a firm date to complete the transaction etc. He wanted an out an apparently found one. Wife ??? This 400i is a nice car and I personally think the buyer was in over his head... I drove this car for a few days and it's big but pulls nice, handles reasonably well keeping in mind the 80s technology and such and it still turns heads.

Yeah I looked at the car almost a year ago- nice paint, decent interior- overall a nice car but the guy was firm at $40K so I walked away. Later he was offering it at $30K but by then I had driven a few other examples and for whatever reason the car no longer appealed to me.

Personally I think at $30K the car is the steal of the century. My memory was the car needed TRXs and the front end rebushed and a set of correct lenses- So you'd still be into it for mid $30s by the time it was minimally sorted-
