The one in the red wasn't kidding either... effing quick and mowing them down lol.

I need new rears for my 2WD.. I could get wheelspin and drift 100-140 range even in 3rd out of corners.. got nice new sticky ones for front stuck like the proverbial all day with barely a chirp.. so get those for the rears now is a priority!

SD I note that the VIC plate "97" sold for $180k and yet "83" was passed in at $210-240k. Would you expect such a big jump in price for a difference of only 14?

Yes I did think of the 8 for the Asian market but it seemed a very high premimium. Looking forward to seeing what 360C has to say as he follows this market quite a bit.

Ok, my take on the results......

There are only 90 two digit plates, so 14 difference between 97 and 83 is a significant amount. Then we have the '8' effect as mentioned. The number 97 in itself isn't anything special, unlike say '99' which has nice symmetry and the "Agent 99 from Get smart" association. I think the owner should have taken $220k for '83' rather than pass the plate in, as it is the right money.

The number itself, rather than the numerical sequence can make a huge difference. One of the most valuable 2 digits, perhaps the most valuable is...........'88'. A long way from the lowest; but the double '8' and the symmetry make it up. In the same vein, '66' is worth big $ to the Asian buyer.
A few years back I was in a convoluted deal to buy '288' which involved '388' and '666'. An Asian buyer bought '666' for a healthy six figure amount, way out of alignment with the high numerical sequence- and he didn't drive a Lambo or have any interest in cars. Similarly, '288' and '388' went for much more than the numerical sequence would have suggested.

Nope, I didn't even register to bid. I am waiting for the right two digit to come up.

Mind you, I thought the three digits went pretty cheaply. Even 458 went for less than I thought it might, and it was a better buy than 599 a few weeks back.
