Loved it. Its nice to see an audience actually get scared again...been a long time since ive been in a theater and heard so many legitimate screams.

A lot of people dont like these 'handycam/found footage' movies but I feel they are injecting fresh blood into a stale genre (and ive been making horror movies for 20 years so ive been around).

I suggest anyone who likes to be creeped out and wants a good scare go see it.

First one isnt anywhere near as good as this one. They seemed to have learned a lot making the first one that they implemented in this one.

This looked to me like another Blair Witch Project type of film - i.e., shaky handheld video cam "footage". You're probably right about it being something to change things up a bit, but it's going to get old if everyone starts using that style (i.e., the Matrix revolving camera thing). How many of these Paranormal movies do you think they're gonna do?

Oh and is viewing of the first one required to see the second one?

I think its unfair to say 'Blair Witch type film' as at this point there are dozens of them and its a legitimate filmmaking style, not simply a Blair Witch rip off. Would sort of be like saying every movie with a CGI creature is a 'Jurassic Park rip off'.

Some people dont like the motion of the handheld cameras. I understand that. I get motion sickness fairly easily but as long as you dont sit too close to the screen these films dont make me sick.

Im sure they will keep making them as long as they are profitable.

You should check out Quarantine and Cloverfield.

I never saw the first one and after hearing about it I have no interest to. I think the 2nd one will be a watch it on the premium channels when it becomes available. I'm glad to hear that its a good movie though.

First one was better IMO. This one takes too long to start..and by that time you already know what will happen.

and thats exactly what would happen it the events really took place...which is the entire point of these films. If you want to watch some action hero pick up a giant gun and kill the monster there are plenty of those films out there for you.

For people who are interested in seeing how real people would react in unreal situations these films are for us.

I like Quarantine a lot. But keep in mind its a remake of an even better Spanish film called [rec]. So if I give Quarantine a 7.5/10 I give [rec] 8.5/10.

I really dig Cloverfield. Its fun to watch how real people would react to a giant monster crushing their city.

I also liked Last Exorcism but I can see why some wouldnt. Its really slow paced. But I enjoy that kind of thing.

There are two new ones hitting soon, Monsters and Troll Hunter. Im looking forward to seeing both.

There are a few others most people havent seen that, while not great, are worth a watch if you like the genre. Check out September Tapes and Poughkeepsie Tapes

I liked the first one and the second one was even better. I thought the security cam footage and the handycam footage put together was very well done. Rent the first one before seeing the second one though.

Agreed, and why would she stay in the house after the kitchen cupboard thing happened? I would have checked the camera when the dog thing happened just for a clue as to what happened with the dog. Info like that could be helpful to the vet.

The argument could be that they installed the cameras for home invasion not poltergiests and since there havent been any 'break ins' no reason to check the cameras. They do start checking the cameras on nights where they experienced something otherworldly. However keep in mind there were 6 cameras recording for 8+ hours each night. They arent going to check 48+ hours of footage every night.

more importantly...if they did check all the cameras all the time there would be no movie :D

Keep in mind that 99% of all movies featuring some kind of supernatural situation have plot holes. Its rare to find one that doesnt. Nature of the beast.

I did appreciate that the director appeared to have a boob fetish. There were a lot of incidental cleavage shots.

That's true. I just like to find those plot holes which might explain why i never get scared in movies.

I liked how the 2nd one occured before the 1st one, I didn't read anything about 2 before seeing it so that was a nice surprise.
