Perhaps because they have larger populations than any other state? More people in market for (roughly) same number of plates = more demand?
most welcome to it ,I sleep in another one ,front rooms are to noisy with idiots in "Look at me look at me ' cars racing up and down "CUBS"
Cheers mate, you really are a top bloke. I dont care what everyone on Fchat says about you behind your back. You're a TOP bloke!!
Sounds good, can you drop me off at the front gates of the track everyday? I dont walk more than 10m, let alone 10km.
Nor do old classic cars. I listened to a very interesting interview with Stirling Moss on the radio (ABC) the other. He was saying the same thing that there were no taxes and at the same time you get to enjoy and use your investment while it continues to appreciate in value. I didn't realise so many cars came to Oz at the end of the season and were left behind. He said they sold them and left them here to buy the newest version upon return to the UK for the next years season. Nowadays the cars left behind here are very valuable. He used the Maserati as an example.
No, I was just adding to 360C's comments. You've in fact answered your own comment, don't buy it in a company name. No different to the question I asked about GST, if a race car was bought by a business you have to charge GST when selling it. If its privately owned there is no GST on sale as is the case with selling a private car.
What about storage, registration, insurance and maintenance costs, plus duty when you buy the car (if you're going to register it)?
Have a look at that QLD heritage plates for sale site that is listed on AE. Seems to be a few nice numbers available at reasonable prices. Just don't expect a 10% p.a. Return
We were talking about capital gains tax on investments using number plates as an example. There is none at this point as there is none with a privately owned car. I mentioned GST in relation to buy and sell of a race car not maintenance, insurance, duty etc. Also not sure about registration of a race car.
Cheers mate, the 10% return on the plates dont bother me. As long as I make that 10% return minimum on my properties I will be happy. Is that site the same as this one? http://www.qplate.com.au/html/qplates_for_sale.htm
