Not having the right car to enter, I'd still like to know what the top 3or even top 5 touring events are (worldwide) for older (pre-1975, say) Ferraris.
I amnot surewhat the 250GTO gathering is called but I'll put that first since that appears to be a very exclusive club indeed.I believe their event is not every year but only every few years.

For instance, I heard the Colorado Grand is pretty highly rated and they reject a lot of cars so just paying the entry fee doesn't guarantee you an "in."

The Grand would certainly be the most prestigious in the US. The 14 million$ TR was on it this year.

Worldwide? I think the original Mille Miglia in Italy would have to be the premiere touring event. But the cutoff is 1962 or so, IIRC.

Touring seems to be much bigger in Europe, so I suspect the top 3 events would be over there.

Here in the states, www.vintagerallies.com does a great job, offering 4 five day tours
in different parts of the US. I did the Texas rallie 5 years ago to Big Bend, and it was top shelf all the way. It is put on by Rich and Jean Taylor, past editor of Car & driver, and both great writers. Porsche NA provides 6 spare vehicles in case your car breaks down, and there is a mechanic, as well as a car transport that follows to get you going as well.
After getting some bad gas in Terlingua Texas (Shelby's Chili Cookoff town) we were glad to have the trailor and P-bugs available.

There is a luggage truck, and all bags are put in your room for arrival, and the Taylor's book great side trips along the way, with their amazing contact list. A great mix of people
were on our trip, with some amazing cars.

Most fun I have had on 4 wheels.

Does it include race cars and street cars? What is the entrance fee? I believe that for the Colorado Grand it is upwards from $3000...

Also I wonder, on any of these tours, is it expected that, after a lunch stop or coffee break, you let others driuving the event drive your car while you drive theirs or is this only done when the owner volunteers?

    all info about tour auto:
    http://www.tourauto.com/en/s01_home/s01p01_home.php

the models accepted by the organisers are those entered in the event between 1951 and 1973 only

entry fee (car/2pers.) is more than for mille miglia (ca. € 7700.- which is at least $ 10K US)

each driver only drives his own car...from the beginning to the end...never heard of anything else
