It is well documented in this forum what I've done to my car. I will go in whatever class the organisers choose to put me in and give it my best shot. I replaced the sodium valves with SS valves and the pistons are whatever Phil put in but they are not the original ones at 8.8:1. I believe they are around 10:1 which is what most put in a 308 engine when rebuilding so yes HC. Nothing else has been done in the engine. I raced a guy before who had one chip for dyno day and one chip for race day. To me you are only cheating yourself and its against the spirit of the event to do so IMO. I've been without my car for 3 1/2 years and by the end of next week I will have spent $150k on it so I'm not gunna be stupid. Having said that, I'm male and always want to win, I'll be doing me best to beat Moretts.
I've got NFI mate, as I say I don't care, I'll go in whatever class they decide to put me in. I would have to say that fortunately after 32 years one would expect some improvements in technology/metallurgy. You'd be silly to put sodium valves back in to keep it original after spending big $ on an engine rebuild. Not even sure they are still available to be honest.
well I am one of the organisers.....as I'm on the committee and we have discussed your car, its no longer a GTB its a super modified version thus its in the same category as any super modified car. the list in that category include 355ch 400i brett's car 308GTB thus you might get 3rd place if not disqualified for running hi comp pistons
says very little for Ferrari that in the 70s they were using sodium valves. bit like running timming belts, fuicking joke.
Yep, coming?? I got a spare seat in the 348. You're right mate, was actually laughing at Blackstag's reply.
It's not like Ferrari were the only ones using sodium filled valves, what about Porsche, Alfa & Mercedes ?
the main reasons for using a timing belt instead of a timing chain is less noise and lighter weight. It also costs less than a chain, we can agree on something
