I have to make a decision next week on my track day wheels/tyres. I may need to ship them via courier to SA. If I have to revert to this option can anyone please advise a possible contact that I can have them sent to if I have to use this option. Thanks in advance.

Not sure whether sending them to the Hotel will work??

less noise and more expensive to maintain,I'd rather have a chain,if a chain is maintained and adjusted its not noisy.
Just ask any Rolls Royce owner.

Hey Brett, will you have your car on the Friday night? There are some great Hills drives 15 min from your hotel if you feel like a quick tour with some stunning views of the city. Others are welcome too. I'll set a gentle pace. :)

Yes Mark, I'm driving/towing (depending on wheels situation) over on the Friday so my car will definitely be there. ;) I would love to go for a drive Friday night. This is my first visit to Adelaide city so it would be great to see at it night from the hills. :)

Let's do a pre-dinner run then. I'll come around at say 6pm to the hotel, we can have a quick drink while the traffic jams clear (!) then head out for an hour before dinner. Any other visitors who want to come along are welcome - so long as you don't mind following a Porsche. :p

That's OK, I always go to bed early so no probs with the 9pm curfew. :p Only ever been to SA once and that was to Elizabeth which is an industrial area.

I'm told Adelaide is very similar to Christchurch. They also speak the Queens English and are well educated like us Kiwi's. :D

Yes, oil and filter will be changed. Not sure on mileage, I'll leave that to Phil to advise me. Obviously we have the 900km's to SA. The clear bra goes on on the 3rd of November so I'm hoping I can have it for the weekend of the 6/7th. Over 2 days of driving I'm sure I can clock up enough mileage to run it in.

Final run in is at Mallala of course. :D

EDIT: Just Googled it, says 749km's from my house to Hotel and yet almost 10 hours drive.

As long as you don't put bigger wheels and sticky slicky tyres on it, your NOHOS will be classified as standard class.

Here is a tip for the concour........... the cheaters tow their car to the event then drive the last 500 mtrs to the display and DON'T declare the car was towed there. That way they save the penalty (20 points I think) which is a margin you just can't make up at the pointy end of the competition. It has been done since time began and it has always pissed me off majorly. I won't cheat to win, and being honest really makes a win impossible.

...........and it's a bloody boring 749 km's. Not far enough to run it in by a long shot FWIW.

I think I will give you a call tomorrow 360C. The towing was only one option as a last resort to get my track tyres over there. What you are saying is to drive over with the normal road tyres and go on the track with them is OK. As you have probably seen or read, the track day is all that matters to me. ;)

I thought I wouldn't be competitive without track tyres. So if I turn up with my 14" wheels and XWX's I can still be in the running??? I'm just competitive thats just me and based on history road tyres just aren't as quick.

Give me a call and I will give you my take.
I haven't read the regs; but they should tell you what tyres are banned for the track day.
There would be stickier tyres around than XWX's that would still keep you in standard class.
Changing to 16's would put you in modified as your car never had them standard or available as an option.
Have a look at the entry list too. You will get a good idea of who and what car will be in your class.

Thanks 360C. All I want to do is be on the same playing field. That's what I've done in the past in other car clubs. I've been a member of the FCA for 10 years and this is my first national event, so I'm really looking forward to it and am very excited.

There is no direct reference to tyres in the supp regs that I could see. Will read again tomorrow, it's getting late. ;)

    Aaaah sorry 360c
16" wheels OK for all 308's under the "continuous" rule
One quirk on the rule BTW, is that you could put a QV engine in a Glass 308 and be standard
Can't put in Hi Comp pistons though, that's modified
