Thinking of doing the following upgrades to my 2001 360 Spider:

1 - Replacing the stock wheels with modular wheels

2 - Replacing the TCU with the Challenge Stradalle TCU

I still really dislike the 1st to 2nd shift under full throttle. Will the Challenge TCU smooth this out with the 100 millisecond quicker shifts?

Both options are around $2500 - $3000. Don't know how to make a poll, don't see an option for this when starting a new thread, so I guess this is a poll. Guess you could add a #3 for around the same price

3 - Upgrading to high flow cats, but my understanding is that to avoid the CEL, you would also need to reprogram the ECU's.

    +1

I had the Mod wheels and was not a fan. Definetly yes on the high flow. I had no CEL well not until I swapped for race pipes. but easily fixed.

    good luck

+1 on high flow cats and CS wheels. Got no issues other than joy with my high flow cats, no cels.

Just funny though, looking through Dupont Registry, there isn't one 360 spider on there with Challenge Wheels. Every one has either stock or modular. Lots of coupes with the challenge wheels, but no spider's.

How many 360 owner's have upgrades to the Challenge TCU? My neighbor down the street has, maybe I will ask him for a test.

Just had new F1 clutch and Tubi free flow cats installed on my 360 Spider. Had to reflash ECU or CEL would have been likely result. I was advised that the Challenge Stradale TCU would significantly help extend the life of my clutch (much less slipping, especially in performance driving) and, if fact CS clutch, because of bronze mountings would be beneficial. I also have modular wheels and personally believe they look great. But, had to insert spacers to accomodate Brembo big brake kit.

You were "advised" but did you install the CS TCU? My understanding is that they are not cheap, around $3000.

Your car looks very similar to mine. I will be doing the belt change this Spring, so I was thinking along the same lines as you. Make my upgrade decisions then. I am just a fanatical research guy. :)

i ordered 3 cs tcu units for my friends here in singapore who own an 02 n 04 360 spider and 01 360. unanimous resounding 2 thumbs up from all three, esp with sport cats. only issue with the tcus is the cost i guess

Do it. You will not regret it. It's the single best mod you can do to a F1 360. Even more-so if the car is a 99-01.

I had installed a Challenge Stradale TCU unit I bought from Daniel at Ricambi(Great Guy!) and it worked SO well! Loved it! You need to instal this unit if you have a 2001 or earlier Modena or Spider, after that you can just adjust your PIS and you're good to go.

    Hope this helps...

How much are people currently paying for the TCU upgrade, my car is a 2001 and last I heard is that it is about $3000 to do the upgrade through a dealer, or through Ricambi. Anyone do the install themselves, or do you need a dealer to do it with the Factory Computer?

Call Jeff from Formula Dynamics. They have a very interesting F1 module that seems to be great. Skidkid has it and says that it works great!!

the 430 wheels look great on the 360 modena. Rear challenge grill is important as well.

I have a CS TCU in mine, but have never driven a 360 with a normal one. I like the one I have.
