Anyone know where to find these in the US? 1. SSC Ultimate Aero 2. Lamborghini Murcielago LP670 SV 3. Jaguar XJ220 (actually saw one at Detroit Auto show a long time ago) 4. Ferrari Rainbow concept (probably in Italy) 5. McLaren F1 LM (seen the standard one) 6. Ford GT90 concept (I think Jack Roush has it) 7. Cizeta-Moroder V-16 (doubt there is still one in the country) Chris
There's a guy in Ada, MI with an XJ220. I've also seen one at Family Classic Cars in San Juan Capistrano, CA, but I think they were just storing it for someone. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow, I just checked out the website for Family Classic Cars, there were LOTS of gems in there! Do you know if the place is open to the public? Not sure when I'll be going to Cali soon, but it's something to keep in mind, thanks! Chris
The car in Ada has since been sold and the GT90 is privately owned. It was up for auction last January, but was pulled prior to it's lot. The owner doesn't take it out except to support a few Ford sponsored events here and there. It is in Michigan.
They are open to the public. I found them accidentally on a drive to San Diego a couple of years ago. I really had to pee, so I took an exit and stopped at the first building I came to. It turned out to be Family Classic Cars, so after my restroom break, I stayed a while and looked at everything they had.
There's a silver XJ220 in a private collection in Springfield, OH. Might be the closest to you, since there's ~10 in the country (from what I've heard). I think the owner only takes it out for a couple car shows/cruise-ins per year though.
Wow, whoever thought that having to pee would be such a great thing - talk about a blessing in disguise! Chris
The Blue Hera Murci SV at lambo Chicago I believe just got sold to a guy in columbus. Not 100% confirmed but im pretty sure thats where that one is going. McLaren F1 LM...well good luck, as there are only 2 that arent owned by the Sultan of Brunie. I believe the one owned by Ralph Lauren is up in CT or NY....
there was an XJ220 on one of the auction programs in September; either Barrett Jackson or Mecom. Remember when they used to use the XJ220s in a "demolition derby" on Speedvision; Saturday nights? They would put two "motorsport celebrities" on the track in them "two at a time" and run a short sprint race. It was a bizarre and unflattering end to a car that probably deserved better.
I'm pretty sure one is owned by the RV king in FL too... along with some other neat cars that shouldn't be here. Like a 911 GT1, CLK GTR, MC12...
Ahh that sucks. Thanks! I lived IN NY for a couple years, I figured that's where one was. But I did get to see Ralph Lauren's Collection with the standard F1. I didn't hear about that, did they actually crash up the cars? MC12 - that's another one I forgot to mention. Any known whereabouts? Chris
Yes, there is a local MC12... you will see Cauley Ferrari take it to shows periodically for the owner. Same owner as the red/black Veyron. I'm pretty sure it's still here, I'll ask a friend if it is or not when I see him. (close friend of the owner).
Yes, that series was called "Fast Masters" IIRC, but we referred to it as 'Crash Masters' back in the day since they did tend to prang up those beautiful XJ220's ;-( Someone brought a blue one out to Waterford Hills (loved that carbon interior) in conjunction with the Meadowbrook Historic Races once, I believe it was the year that Jaguar was the honored marque. Brian
Just a note, the RV King (Don Wallace) in FL has a regular F1 road car (#073) which has been upgraded with the Downforce Kit and an LM-spec engine, but it is not an F1 LM. There are actually three LMs not in Brunei. The factory has the prototype, Ralph Lauren has LM3 which seems to be kept at his Colorado ranch most of the time, and LM2 is in the ZAZ Museum in Nagoya, Japan. It's open to the public for a small fee and also contains one of the F1 GTs and sometimes an F1 road car as well. >8^) ER
I love it when you come in with your obscene amount of knowledge on these thing Erik! You are hands down the authority on the F1 around here.
I believe his 911 GT1 might be fore sale now too. I think its even listed in the for sale section here by one of the members. THey are asking 1.5million for a silver 996 bodied GT1. Tlak about an insane car....
I tend to think Erik regularly searches for new posts with Mclaren F1 in the text Thanks! I prefer the 993 911 GT1... which only two were made. Oddly, both are (were) in the US... one near Seattle, and the other in Houston. Red, and white. Top speed of 199 or so, but 199 left, and right too Full leather interior, but no A/C LOL
I learn a lot of things that way, and you'd certainly be right in this case. I'm pretty sure this is the first and only time I've found myself posting in the North Central USA forum. >8^) ER
Just wait until an F1 comes here... not that I know something you don't... yet! (Honestly, give it about 1.5 years as my best guess)
There was a local white 670 SV driving on woodward during the summer. I believe the same car is in the lot of Lamborghini of Troy right now. It was very odd to see a car of that magnitude outside covered in dirt today.
The one that's in Lamborghini Troy is actually an LP570-4 Superleggera. I just took some footage of it the other day. Chris
If you find yourself in Las Vegas, there is a silver XJ220 at the Auto Collection behind the Imperial Palace casino. Costs a few bucks for admission, but there is a coupon for free admission on the website. They have a few other things of note there as well that are rare and exotic. http://autocollections.com/index.cfm?id=3427&action=details&tab=ondisplay&cartable=&sortorder=car,year&sr=29
