    * REPOST - SORRY *

Yes, this happened right here in Chi-Town. Crap.

"Seems the unfortunate fellow was taking a tryout on a $1.5 million 2008 black-and-white Veyron 16.4 with a brown leather interior at Chicago’s Bentley Gold Coast recently when the feces hit the fan. Backing out into stalled traffic, he neatly clipped an idling Toyota for no apparent reason."

    Hopefully, this wasn't an FChatter!

Edit: found the video in the Bugatti section, so sorry for the repost. It's just now getting picked up by the blogosphere.

How the heck did I miss that? I knew it was the wrong week to quit sniffing glue...

As a small act of penance, I finally got off my (virtual) butt and subscribed. If I repost again, feel free to berate and belittle me at your leisure.

I gotta give some blame to the salesman who WAS directing him. He was right there, but yelled too late. Probably thought the driver was going to turn sharper.

The salesman was at fault. Im sure they can stop traffic for 5 seconds...I see it being done all the time for construction or trucks to merge etc..

Why would they even have the car in a position so that it has to back out onto a roadway?
I always back up all my vehicles where ever I park (including my garage) so that I just drive away.
It is definitely safer and you have a clear view of where you are driving.
I would have told that salesperson to stop traffic for me if I had to back that car up into a street like that.

    So true ,my Texan friend.

You never hear of a F car or even a lowly Lambo falling victim to a bird and now it appears every Bugatti wrecked is due to a bird. lol

    It was Obama's fault.

No really it was the drivers fault. Ultimately it's whoever is behind the wheel of the car that is at fault.

That's just DUMB. When I bought my E350 it was in the showroom - they backed it
out and got it aimed the right way and safely aside LONG before I was allowed to
    drive.

That dealer, IMO, is at fault - they should have had the car out and parked before
he ever got a chance to drive it.

What point is there to test driving that car in downtown Chicago anyway? The only feedback you'll get is 0-30-0-30-(pothole)-0-30-(bike messenger)-0-(taxi cab)-30-0-(CTA Bus about to hit you)...

Multiple reasons why it all went bad:

    1) Dealer should have had the car facing the street rather than needing to back it out.
    2) Salesman should have stopped traffic and/or actually communicated with the driver.
    3) The driver should have turned the steering wheel and looked in the mirrors
    4) The women in the Toyota Corolla should have moved forward rather than sit for 5 seconds after the taxi in front of her drove off leaving 30 feet clear in front of her.
