Oh sh*t! don't look good mate & I hate it when the water collects under the carpet.... Have they changed new door seals, the large one on the body or just for that mirror bracket? I bought window seals from DIY stores & helps but make sure it's the thin one or you need to splice it.
Lovely 220S, was looking @ a black one earlier but we can't have LHD here You're a BIG fan of Mercs yeah
If you guys are old enough you would remember Cycle and Carriage Mercedes dealer on the corner of Orchard and Stevens Road in the late 60's early 70's. My mother had a 280sl and my dad always had one when I was a kid. It's in the genes.
The most annoying thing is the water runs into the speaker below & I've had to have both sides replaced twice!! Apparently replacing speakers is easier than fixing leaks. My warranty dies in January so future replacements will be on my own dime They claim to have changed all seals. It's going in next week so let's see how they go this time around. I was wondering whether the amount vertical play in the doors have anything to do with it? (I was surprised by how much u can lift the door on it's hinges when it's open)
maybe u need to check with those upholstery /interior guys who do fitment of windscreens etc. either francis of hapli in sin ming or ngiam brothers in yew tee. alternatively ask gary of em for his guy's contact.
Did u check your floorboard? Musty smell ain't good mate, last thing you want is to have rusty floorboard. My minty 456 has the factory plastic sheet still over the carpet but when I last brought her out in heavy rain, I found water under the carpet! Thanks to the blocked drainage holes, I tore all plastic away & removed the mats then park it under sun for days with opened windows to dry it. I also need new door seals. That model is notorious for the glass window seal problem due to shut line issues, even a factory update campaign couldn't solve it & also the rather typical '90s triangle wing mirror plate leak! Does any other spider owners have your same prob? Even my 80s SL didn't leak so bad, I would suspect the worst, chassis flexed but thicker seals with fine adjustments of door hinge/shut plate should help but it's a PITA cos someone has to use a garden hose to test!
Saw the all new Lambo V12 murcie replacement just now. Gorgeous. It felt so much more modern than the LP640...doors still scissors flip up but now angles out slightly like Maclaren style. Kind of like aston except that door flip up. I like the interior very much. Speedometer is digital screen much like 458 and so much clearer than old model. The shoulder hunches look aggressive but softer compared to 640. The frontal view is pure sex....LEDs Y shaped lighting... can see from very far away...nice. I like ! $1.4mil a pop anyone? Deliveries from June 2011.. Gotta run...its friday nite!
The 355 (all models) has exactly the same issue with the triangle making an indent into the door frame's rubber. Like I said, it ain't a F car w/o these issues. That said, my leak is a single trickle, not half as bad as Derek's hence you don't hear me complaining about it. Jon - watch the internal rusting of those triangles. I removed and powder coated mine as there was surface rust inside.
you doing the ECC drive in the mrng? I never rsvp'd & might invalidate my membership if I just turn up
