Hi my f430 is having this humming noise when the rpm is constant between 2000-3000rpm.

Sent to my dealer and suspect is the bearing of gearbox but after a new bearing the noise is still there, any idea what it was?

    Thank you.

You're saying the dealership diagnosed the problem as a bearing in your gearbox, replaced the bearing and the noise persists and they don't have any other ideas?

    Strange...

Does it do it in neutral?
That will eliminate motor if no.

You need to isolate it- driveline or motor..

My 2004 360 spider is making a similar noise, high pitch constant whirling sound when the rpm is around 3000. Goes away in neutral. I just took it in to the dealer. Will let you know what they find.

Did you get your noise fixed?

I got my 360 spider back from the dealer this afternoon, and the engine noise is gone! They didn't have to drop the transmission to fix the problem. According to the service manager, it turned out that when the car had a clutch, bearing, and the rear main seal changed at the San Diego Ferrari, pressure in the line connecting to the seal didn't get released, and so whenever the engine warmed up, this increased pressure was escaping from the seal, and that's what was causing the noise. All they had to do was reconnect that line to the rear main seal after releasing pressure, and the noise went away. According to him, this increase in pressure often causes oil leak also which is a common problem for 360s (?). Now I don't know anything about a Ferrari engine, so I may not be relaying this correctly, so if what I just wrote doesn't make sense, please let me know, and I'll try to have the service manager explain it to me again.

Henry Escano is the service manager at the Silicon Valley Ferrari. Might have your service guy get in touch with him. Your car problem really sounds very similar to the problem I had.

    Good luck!

Its somewhere in driveline, not in motor. Hopefully your tech can isolate where in the driveline its originating from. Good Luck, let us know what you find!
