    Game 1 goes to the black and orange.

    It's awesome to see the 2 postseason underdogs in the World Series. Looking at the stats during the regular season, everyone's thinking Yankees and San Diego or Philly.

    No offense intended - It was meant (slightly) tongue in cheek.

    However, my "hating" on the Yankees is deeply rooted in a dislike for unfairness - IIRC, their payroll is about $100 million higher than even the Red Sox at #2 - They *should* make the dance every year! And when they don't everyone apart from their diehard fans rejoices!

    OK, I know the counter arguments, and can even make the case that in the home of capitalism they should be free to spend whatever they want etc etc.

    But, from a sporting perspective, it's hard to argue that the salary cap leagues (NHL, NFL and NBA being the biggest) have seen their playing fields leveled considerably with the result that the on-field competition is improved.

    Anyone know how often a team up 2-0 has gone on to lose? I guess it's pretty rare (?)

    It's shaping up to be a *great* series IMHO - The supposedly unhittable Cliff Lee got toasted and the Giants found not only their bats but their defense as well - Pitching has always been good. I thought they looked really, really, good last night!

    11 out of 51 have gone on to lose when up the first 2 games.

    Cain was money last night and has been so throughout the entire postseason. And the 7-run 8th was just ridiculous! I was beginning to feel sorry for the Rangers. They relievers couldn't throw a strike to save their own lives.

    I just went back a see that the Rangers had the worst record in the playoffs. Interesting

    That Giant pitching was awesome. I heard Nolan Ryan, when asked who he wanted from the National League, say that he wanted the Rangers to play the Giants because the Giants had the better pitching staff. Boy did they prove it..........Major congrats to the Giants. And I was pulling for the Rangers all the way but the pitching hog tied the Rangers completely. \

    Man, the best hitting team in the majors this year against the best pitching staff and look who comes out on top. Who would have ever thought the Giants could tie up the Rangers the way they did.............

    I thought the old adage was "good pitching always beats good hitting" (?)

    Still a great series with some good pitching from both sides. Great series, a small shame they didn't do it at home but I'll take it. And not a Damn Yankee in sight :)

    Great pitching and an occasional home run. A sure way to have a chance to win any series. I have to say that the Giants even snuck up on me and I've been following them for 25 years.

    Rangers played well but if I'm being honest I think they were not managed all that well in the series. It may not have made a difference, but the games may have been closer. For example, everyone was complaining of the bad break in game 2 when the ball bounces off the top of the wall and back into play for a double, but I'm left to wonder how come they didn't play for the 1 run with a runner on 2nd and nobody out in a tight game? They should have found a way to bring him home regardless of the unlucky bounce by bunting, sacrificing, hitting the other way, whatever it takes to advance him.
