yep, like ferraris, they're much more common sight today than they were even 20 years ago.

But gee, making this observation means that I automatically hate everyone who has either a ferrari and/or a heritage plate.

    errrr... I don't. To assume otherwise is a non-sequitur.

You: "Used to be a nice thing to spot... now one sees 20 a day"

Then: "I'm spotted, not a spotter"

Wow, lawyer boy is never wrong. There's your lie right there. Reply to that rationally so you can show everyone here how much of a man you are.

Yes Vicroads issued more plates to the public, no doubt about that, but in comparison to the population they are not common. 999x 3-, 2- and 1-digit plates and how many cars on the road in Melbourne? The number of cars will grow but the number of 3/2/1 digit heritage plates won't, how hard is that to understand?

Are you really arguing with that last sentence?

i know where they came from and why it all came about.
do you know the history of the plates say 35 to 40 years ago?
would you like to know what happened and the outcome?
I'm happy to share with all.

in the 60s the state Government began collecting the lower digit plates to place on govt cars,as the plates began to be non reissued by owners of cars the Govts numbers increased,in those days you could only transfer a plate via selling a car .
they then started to claim the plates would no longer be issued.
There was hell to play as many of the lower digit #s were used by the same familes for generations,Govt stopped aquiring the plates.
Then latter on in the 80s? the gvt of the day went to there own plates and VIC roads sold of the plates and any others that had no issued owners.

Yes. And? I'll bet a nimrod like you probably understood that to mean that I see precisely 20 heritage plates a day. lol.

    google 'sarcasm'.

Oh, and 'seeing' is not the same thing as 'spotting', lagoose.

Personal attack. I thought you weren't better than that. And I was right.

999 3/2/1 digit plates, you say? Really? i did not know that. There are far more gen issue/personalised plates than heritage plates, you say? Really? I did not know that. <-- sarcasm (see above).

Oh, for argument's sake, if 20 years ago, there were <200 three digit heritage plates on cars, and today there are >850 three digit plates on cars ... do you think that might explain the fact that I see far more three digit plates on cars today than I would, say, 20 years ago?

It's also funny how now I almost only ever see three digit plates these days, and only rarely see 5 and 6 digit heritage plates? Explain that! I've seen maybe four 6 digit heritage plates this year in total. Often I'll see four 3 digit plates in a weekend. I remember a time when I only saw four or so 3 digit plates in a year. Again, driving around the same parts of Melbourne. Can you explain that?

There are more commodores than ferraris on the road.... doesn't change the fact that i see far more ferraris on the road today than I did 10 years ago. This is the point you fail to comprehend. Compare apples with apples, lagoose.
Oh, and you DO realise that VIC heritage plates run from 1 to 285-000. How many heritage plates can there theoretically be, taking into account all 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 digit combinations????

My point is that 20 years ago, heritage plates were a far, far, far less common sight in and around Melbourne than they are now. I rarely go a day without seeing one on some MHOS, especially in the last couple of years. I traverse the same parts of Melbourne today than I did 10 years ago. 10 years ago, I would very, very occasionally see a heritage plate in the cbd or in inner-surbuban Melbourne. Now I see them all over Melbourne. THAT's my point, FFS.

Furthermore, my explanation is far more than you deserve, especially in light of your smear that I 'hate' people with 3 digit plates. Gee, that must be news to my friends and acquaintances who own 3 digit plates. As your mental mentor would say, the end.

Lagoose, if you didn't already know all that, you should stick to spotting the pretty numbers and leave the serious plate discussions to those who know what they're talking about.
