yep. or seeing one on an old bomb, knowing that the plate is worth x1000 of the car... you know that's a plate that's been in the family for generations. Wow... a freshly pressed three digit on a new C-Class! Big fuicking deal. Just like a bus. Wait 10 mins in the same spot and another one will follow.
problem is so many of these plates are made to look like Heritage plates ie i22i =s 1221 ect or ii00 =s 1100 there is a few low nubers 2 digit around here on old heaps ie jap bangers.
I'm thinking of one 2 digit in particular, on a poor condition late '80s Mazda Astina driven by an old bloke. I see this car occasionally. And don't forget for eg 'OO-5' pressed in vitreous enamel as '005'.
Haha, and you have a go at me about sarcasm. Do you think the phrase "They fell from the sky" is being literal? Do you think nimrod and goose are not in any way personal attacks? Answer those 2 questions each with a yes or no and we'll see what kind of person you really are.
Just an observation, as an avid SA historic (heritage) plate collector/enthusiast..... Is it that people who are interested in heritage plates tend to notice them more these days because they actually look for them?
maybe because i grew up with them either my fathers plates or his mates,I just look ,but only if the car catches my eye.
Also from a SA heritage place enthusiast - interesting point, I hadn't thought of that. I think it's part of it, but the number of heritage plates have increased quite a lot here in SA. Just drive around the eastern suburbs and every 3rd car has a heritage plate on it. Was it like that 10 years ago?
Thats the thing.......I can't remember. I have only been involved in them over the last 7 years & heavily in the last 3-4 years. So sad I wasn't in the same position or the same age as I am now for the SA 1985 great plate auction
Not in my experience. I used to actively keep an eye out for them, and would enjoy seeing one occasionally. Now I don't even bother, they're so common. Kind of like how I used to get excited about seeing a Lambo or a Ferrari. Now I don't. The only Lambos that pique my interest now are diablos (which are rarely seen) or the older cars. I see a Murci or gallardo and I think to myself, 'big deal'. That's what happens when they become common sights. Ditto any Ferrari post-F355. And ditto three digit heritage plates.
lol. tonight i saw 5757 on a porsche. and a black gallardo in the cbd. rare, aren't they. lol didn't see a ferrari, which was unusual.
