Also, one of the members of our local club --- "Team Knucklehead" --- just got a '92 Diablo (white over red). Mark ---- do you want to post up a few pics?
I almost forgot the most important addition to Team Knucklehead as of a month ago ---- 2007 Lamborghini Gallardo (yellow over black)
Sounds like we are getting more exotics in the Des Moines area. Today I saw a yellow diablo on hickman and in Davenport on my way home I saw a Saleen S7, and 2 Ford GT's. Then later on I-80 I saw a black Audi R8. sorry no pics :-(
My Iowa exotic? (insert joke here) Glad to see an Iowa thread going again, gettin worried about you guys. Ron Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hey, at this point, there may actually be fewer MG's around Iowa than there are Ferrari's ---- that MAKES your MG more "exotic"
I wish I had known there was activity on this board in the DSM area sooner. I have several exotics and know many people in the area who have them. I am on the board of the Salisbury Concours and Road Rally Charities. Many exotics show up to our rallies. Our rallies start and end in Des Moines check the videos on our site: http://www.roadrallycharities.com/

Greetings Steve --- Yeah, I learned about the Rally from one of your members, Russell Bird, who lives in my neighborhood. I went over to Saints for your last pre-rally a few weeks ago. I think it would be great for more of us to get together / get to know each other . There are definitely A LOT MORE exotics and owners in the Des Moines area than many realize. And, unfortunately, most of us are largely unaware of each other. Also, there isn't really an organized commonality that brings us all together --- the guy who heads up the regional chapter of the Ferrari Club of America is based near Dubuque, and they organize all their events locally in that area ---- with no interest in doing anything around Des Moines And, the car clubs that are active around Des Moines don't have any interest in exotics "Akram", here on F-chat, has made a great deal of effort this past summer to try to get folks together. But, about 95% of the owners we have approached and invited for get-togethers have shown no interest ---- so, we have basically decided to say "to hell with 'em"......... So, there are 5 or 6 of us that have formed of our own "group", and we get together almost every weekend for a drive, a beer, a cup of coffee, or over at one of our houses to tinker on the cars If you want to tag along with us, you are most welcome Just shoot Akram (Ray) a PM ---- he's the "President" of our little group
You can also add these to that list Ferrari 360 Spider - Titanium / black Ferrari 360 Spider - Silver / blue Ferrari 360 Spider - Red / tan Ferrari 458 - Red / tan Lambo Diablo - White / red Lambo Gallardo - Yellow / black Lotus Esprit V8 - Silver / black
There is about 10 of us that are doing the same thing, surprising the two groups have never met. If you read Juice Magazine they just did a little article on me and my cars, between my dad and I we have 70 cars up here in Ames. http://dmjuice.desmoinesregister.com/article/20101012/JUICE03/10130324/
Great, yes I know Russell well. I brought down a black Jensen-Healey that night. You should have come out the start of the rally at Dennis Albaugh's to see how many great cars we fluster out their caves.
I remember seeing your J-H ---- blew me away ---- haven't seen one of those beastie's in a long time BTW, who brought the red Mangusta that night? I had to leave before I got the chance to meet the owner. One of our group lives next door to Dennis --- he went over that morning to check you guys out.
The Mangusta is owned by John Siberell from the Iowa Sleep Disorders Center. My father owns the yellow Pantera that was at the Salisbury Concours this year, it is all original and only 17k miles.
Sure, Ron. However, we (our DSM group) won't be getting together for the next couple of weeks due to the fact that most of us have other commitments occupying our time in the near term.
Just keep tabs on this thread..... We'll post an announcement prior to our next rendezvous. We may also be in "reduced strength" next time out, though ---- 4 of the mounts are in "the shop" for a little maintenance after the long summer of thrashing (errr, I mean driving safely and responsibly )
