there are airbags. could be faulty sensors but unlikely cos the caution light will illuminate. maybe seat belt wasn't fastened.

maybe impact wasnt strong enough to trigger activation of the airbags (but from the photos seems that crunple zone extends almost all the way to the dash- should be enough to trigger)

From the video, it looks pretty extensive damage and probably chasis is damage. A taxi slam the front right of my old 7 series. Damage does not look as bad and it cost the insurer $50k. Its going to cost more than $100k to repair this and at least 3 months. Something must be wrong with the airbag as it should have been activated. After an accident like this most important is no physical injury, car can buy another one.

agree that the impact would have activated the airbag. when i still have the 997, i remember getting the front airbag sensors and having them installed just behind the bumper on the subframe. once the chassis is damage, actually not worth repairing. normally sold for parts.

The insurer decision to declare total lost is all math. If the paper value+coe residual value+export body price is close to the market value of the car and the repair cost is> export body value, they will declare the car a total lost. for the owner this is better than repairing a car that is badly bang up.

    Good Morning to all,
Looking forward to this long weekend.

The driver after such total lost or huge repair cost will have difficulties in getting insurance for his future rides ESP if it is exotic cars. That is the most painful part!
