I just saw my car on eBay! Which is interesting because I didn't realize I was selling my car! And when did I move to Wisconsin?

So, should I go ahead and report this fraud to ebay, or should I enlist the brilliant, nefarious minds here to torture the bastard who listed my car?

I look forward to your input.

Ask questions. Bid on it. And win.

Some crafty types have put up pictures of the actual car they claim to be selling including a picture of the serial number on ebay. They have taken deposits on the car which they never actually owned and then vanished with the money...
This happened on a number of 'muscle' cars. Lately owners at car shows have been covering the serial number on the dash of their car for this very reason.

I wouldn't try to contact the 'seller' ...these things are usually some kind if fishing scam. I check the F-listing every morning on ebay and some lowlife has been posting vintage Ferraris all week at no reserve. Ebay's been pulling them off by the end of each day.

Great price so far...I'll buy it and sell it to you for 10% more than I get it. :D:D:D

    Selling point:
    1. very rare vehicle in excellent condition.
    2. undergoing a new restoration (how can it look newer?).

Ask the seller for more pics...just be sure to copy me on your emails...:D

(BTW, since this is interstate commerce combined with fraud, you should be able to forward his/her info to the FBI; this person could be dealing in more shadier practices)

YES. If you really want to nail the guy, do this.....If you win the car, call the Attorney General's office for Wisconsin, and turn it over to them ---- If the price is over $10K, it's a felony fraud case, and very bad things will happen to the "seller"... IF they can find him (and IF he is a US citizen.....).

    I agree.

Contact FBI pronto, beefore the auction closes (as it's an interstate crime)- they will be interested due to the amount of money in play. Bust his a** !!!

This happened to me a few years ago, saw my fcar on ebay for sale. I emailed the ebay authorities and they pulled the auction within a couple of hours. I like the idea of bidding on it, and turning it over the to FBI or similar.....

Unfortunately we are always going to have scumbags in this world....

Same thing happened to me. They lifted pics and description from the web, and advertised the car of less than 10% of the actual value, with the seller being on another continent and the car not available for inspection.

I reported it to both the site and the authorities, the ad was taken down, but I wonder how many actually were freedy enough to transfer cash to the poor divorced woman strapped for cash, hoping to get a Ferrari delivered 3 days later:)
