They are of course for sale, for the right price :)

    http://www.prestigecars.dk/

So technically not a garage, but more a dealer.

There are no license plates on them. ;) Except one (16M), which doesn't seem to have a Danish plate. (though I could be wrong)

Makes them a hell of a lot cheaper :)

Downside is you can't drive them around daily.

Point taken but are there any with lower effective rates than the US? If so what are the immigration policies?

While you are correct, that all the cars are for sale for the right price, Kaj owns all the cars himself and drives them all. He considers all the cars his, and part of his collection until they move on to new owners :D

You are correct, that not all cars are his. Which ones exactly I dont know, as I didn't take the pictures.. sadly :) - I would think that only one of the normal 430's is his. But I think the rest is his.

Your calculations are not that far off. :) But only if you register the cars. The 180% are only for registered cars. And those with big collections here, don't register all their cars. Maybe one or two of them. The rest drives on temporary plates or lease contracts (They still own the cars they lease.)

It's not that easy. He usually only opens up his garage to groups, and often it's only car clubs. I will make sure to send you an invitation the next time F-Club gets to visit :D

The best way to calculate a price is to take a car and give them the DK price as of today.

    Like a 2010 Camaro 3.6 V6 with 5.000km on the odometer.

Price 699.900DKK or $ 130.710 USD calculated as of todays currency rates.

Nope the first collection is supposedly owned by John Crone. The GTO is his, that's certain.

    I feel for you man!

We've got more or less the same thing here, albeit with slighly lower tax rates (52% income tax, 8% or so import tax, 19% VAT and I believe 48% luxury tax on cars. Plus of course roughy $8 per gallon of fuel (mostly taxes) and road taxes that vary with vehicle weight. My BMW 330D sets me back $2500 per year on road tax.

Oh, and parking in front of my house costs $6 per hour.

And labour being expensive as it is (also because employers pay huge amount of... you've guessed it - taxes), car maintenance is killing. The other day a friend got a quote for work on her Opel (a mid-range GM brand, comparable to say Pontiac) for $210 per hour!

I believe that we're officially the second-worst country in the world to own a car. After Denmark that is... ;)

But like Douglas said: let's get back to the topic of garages... :D
