Croatian racing driver crashed today in his 360 Modena on croatian highway, while street raced with 350Z. Girl in Ferrari passed away. Article & pictures: http://www.24sata.hr/crna-kronika-news/ferrari-sletio-s-ceste-i-zapalio-se-poginula-je-jedna-zena-197125 (sorry for bad english)
Driver survived at lest for now. He's in hospital. Hi raced in WTCC, so I don't understand what happend, but car looks terrible. Almost nothing left from car. They were traveling on the race track on speed day, obviously they raced on highway.
can't muster sympathy for street racing if that was the case... R.I.P. the girl passenger... I can feel sorry for senseless victims/family/friends, absolutely yes, sorry for a driver who's reckless and irresponsible, I just can't do that especially as this wasn't a kid but a "professional"...
Incorrect, An idiot driver operating under racing conditions on public throughfares crashed his 360 Modena on a croatian highway. Unless the driver has a racing license, he is not a racing driver, but merely a driver doing stupid stuff. Its too bad the provoceteur did not get a Darwin award, also.
If you are refering on the video, It has nothing to do with car crash. That's old video from downtown Zagreb (Croatian capital city). Car crash took place on highway, apparently he was doing more than 155 mph

according to the croatian press, he was traveling in the left lane (passing), moved over to the right, but did not see the car that was already in that lane (blind spot anyone?!!!). collision took place, he shot off the highway onto the field, likely flipped several times, was ejected - didn't wear the seatbelt...the car caught fire. the girl (very pretty 20 year old model) was wearing the belt and was trapped, but probably unconscious, died. the press is not speaking anything about any "street racing", but he has been charged by the police. seeing the cars involved (a nissan z with aftermarket recaro seats!!!), i would wager a pretty euro that there was some hanky-panky going on here as the incident happened about 2 kms away from a major intersection/highway ramp. i can see them accelerating like mad from the ramp seeing who is going to be "first". he's apparently ok now after treatment at the local hospital. his father operated a WTCC Seat racing team for which he drove. i've driven that section several times; it's a newish, very modern, safe road. only inattention and very high speed would cause something like this to happen. ...surprised how little of the ferrari is left after the blaze.
video link of the fire and the driver staggering about...copy-and-paste. http://dnevnik.hr/vijesti/crna-kronika/colak-kriv-za-nesrecu-u-kojoj-je-poginula-djevojka.html#video ...it's in croatian.
In a sweeper turn like that with adrenalin running and trying to impress the babe, it doesn't take much for the car to oversteer and then it is very difficult to control as the rear end wants to come around and the car slides. Looks like he launched off the curb and then when the car landed it rolled. Of course it caught fire. I doubt he hit anyone. Happens time and time again in a 360 when street racing.
Police confirmed, 350Z was involved in accident, Ferrari driver hit Nissan before crash. Ferrari and Nissan driver are good friends, they traveled to Grobnik (race track) . Croatian police pressed charges against Ferrari driver, He's still in hospital. (Nissan 350Z on the pictures is one of the fastest street legal cars in Croatia and the driver holds fastest time on Grobnik for street legal cars. Press call him "King of Grobnik".)
It's surprising to see a racer drive so irresponsibly on the street. Especially with a passenger. Most racers I know gave up driving like idiots on public roads as soon as they started racing. Apparently racing doesn't cure everyone. To this day, I drive more conservatively, because I know how much run-off room is needed at speed. RIP.
What a waste of a beautiful life, I hope the driver suffers with her memory every minute of his life.
