Just saw on the news that Jenson was held up while driving outside of the circuit.

    Assailants were armed too!

    Go brazil!

Hehehe - that'd be an interesting choice of protection vehicle. If you rock them hard enough, one person can overturn them by hand... not sure it'd be the wisest of selections for a hazardous area. :)

Also, something about the 600cc engine and the extra weight of the armour would need to be addressed.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Didn't this also happen a few years ago outside of the circuit??? I remember reading about a vehicle of McLaren (I think) mechanics that were attacked but managed to escape unharmed. If I remember right, the MO of the group that attempted the attack was to kidnap, kill , and then demand money for their release pretending the kidnapped people were still alive.

Brazilian authorities are standing by ready to arrest Massa if he
    helps Alonso win the championship.

But, known armed assailants are lurking around outside the
track prepared to rob unsuspecting VIPs. And, since these
authorities evidently do nothing to stop this, VIPs are ushered
to and from the track in armoured cars with professional drivers.

Perhaps not the paradise we're led to believe it is.

Thugs paid by Bernie in attempt to get Brasil off the calendar to be replaced by a Tilke track in a third world nation no one's heard of.

Did you see Speed TV, during the pre-race show, asking Bernie about whether Brazil's future was in doubt?
The troll told them that there "were no guns" and that he thought they were just trying to sell Jenson a hat or something.

What planet is Bernie living on, these days?

Yup. When I heard that they were to interview him I wondered "why bother?".
BTW Bernie has his own planet.

Bernie is living on the global economic planet. Brasil is booming, so he will diffuse any situation these days. Who can blame him... Sao Paolo has been dangerous, even just flying into the airport, for many years. But they are hosting the World Cup and some great events in the near future. Best, David

I was talking to AJ Foyt last year and he said he was never going back. He related a couple of recent stories from his trip down and said it was chaos in terms of crime and violence. And he lives in Texas!

Good thing they don't have a Juarez or Matamoros GP.
