Which aftermarket exhaust for 458 have the best sound?

Any suggestion?

So far, I think the stock sounds best.

 

Judging solely by the video, I don't think Akrapovic's 458 system is an improvement over stock. It sounds a bit deeper, but nothing epic through the rpm range. Maybe it sounds better inside the car? Otherwise, considering the expense involved, I don't think it's a worthwhile change.

While I respect the highly credited work performed by Fabspeed, I don't think you can F#%* with the factory 458 exhaust. As Ricky said, it is opera and you don't need to tune it any better. Further, I think the two exhaust tip set up looks like something from a Corvette.

 

Joe you must miss that '66 Corvette; it had two exhaust tips but the modern C6 has four exhaust tips. I still like the early 365 GT/4 BB (Boxer) with "Six" exhaust tips!

I thought that too, the stock really does sound and look great. Apart from I guess weight loss and HP gain I wouldn't really think it needs improvement, and even then...

Saying that I think Fabspeed does a great job with their products

I got my first ride in a 458 yesterday and it was epic. I have a stock F430 and a modified Gallardo (stock cats, LOC exhaust) and I was simply amazed at the exhaust note in the 458. As my friend left my house he punched it and the sound was simply incredible.

As we all know all Ferrari sound good from the factory. Eventually after the initial glow wears off.......there is alot more power and sportscar sound lurking in all Ferrari cars.

As far as stating what exhaust is the best it is essentially impossible to answer this question accurately as there are 4 exhaust components on all late model Ferrari V8 midengined cars. The 4 exhaust components make up the symphony and variuos parts from OEM stock and aftermarket create certain aural signatures.

the 4 components are: 1) headers/exhaust manifolds, 2) catalytic converters (six catalytic converters are on each and every USA North America 360& 430 that choke USA cars) 3) rear mufflers and 4) exhaust tips.

One can increase the sports car sound and power by realcing any of these componenets. Jeremy and I designed and tested 4 different versions of F458 Italia rear mufflers and chose something that sounded really special. If I were modifying my 458 Italia and or were on the fence............after enjoying the car for awhile I would always look 1st at headers and then sports race catalytic converters. These 2 simple easy to install parts add significant dyno proven power and sports car sound to any all all late model V8 Ferraris.

The 458 Challenge tips make the car look like a Challenge car and simplify the rear bumper. You have to see them in person as internet pictures dont tell the whole story.

So far the kreisseig exhaust for 458 fails to impress me at all. To be honest, it sounded so much quieter and way worst off then the stock exhaust. Kresseig does make some very nice sounding exhaust for other cars though such as the Murchi and Gallardo units.

For some weird reason, the 458 stock exhaust sounds really nice and exotic once the valve opens up and hit its redline.

I would be getting my car really soon and I would as some of you say, not consider any exhaust for the time being other then the stock unit. Keep my options open since the stock unit sounds so good. But I would consider power upgrades such as the headers and sports cat. I would assume those two units would not change the tone/sound of the stock exhaust by too much albeit perhaps slightly louder.

Of course they will always be the downside of the stock exhaust which weights a blood heavy 35kg as compared to less then 10kg aftermarket variants.

Having said all these of personal opinion, I would like to ask how much gains would you expec out of changing to fabspeed headers and sports cat? (with no ecu tune) Would appreciate it if fabspeed could answer this question. I understand it would be minimal gains since ecu was not retuned. I am not particularly comfortable of taking the ecu out of the car and sending it off to the states for 1 month.

 

Has anyone heard the Tubi's for the 458?

 

Sounds similar to stock but a bit louder, not impressive at all. Im partial to the F1 sounding exhausts, and the Tubi just isnt it.

 

We installed Fabspeeds on a customer's 458. It basically adds a little more bass from what stock has. Problem is, you can't turn it off. I like the fact that the stock exhaust has baffles. To each, their own, I suppose.

The tip does look rather badass!

 

What about Oakley Design Ti system? Good to save some pounds.
