Can someone record that and make a dvd to pass around for us here in the US? If someone can, I am calling dibs on the first viewing.
Absolutely! Only Hunt could hold up the victory ceremony to have a "***" with one of the beauty queens. He actually got out of the car, walked over to her, took her by the hand and sat her down on the McLaren. They talked for about 10 minutes, while everyone else waited. Image Unavailable, Please Login
+2 We were camping (in the mud) at Silverstone in '75. Returned to the site after the race (*never* try and leave on Sunday evening!) and were "downing a few" when James wanders by and sits down with the guys next to us. Turns out they were his old crew from the junior days and he wanted to party with them, and very soon us as well.... An unforgettable night! [Even without any womanising - He wanted to be "one of the lads" on this (rare!) occasion. Cheers, Ian
At Chimay in 1972, when the local constabulary turned up at the bar to 'quiet' our revelry, James had to be restrained from trying to relieve them of the police car..... When Barry tested our F1 at Brands Hatch, he and George Harrison took us to a liquid dinner in the Kentagon, Barry had us in stitches, a very funny and talented bloke.
A reminder that its being shown tonight here in the UK. On the ITV channel at 10.35 Dont forget gentlemen.
Yes it was a very entertaining documentary. Although all the footage came from two separate documentaries on Sheen and Hunt that i already have, they just joined them together. However there was some great new insight interviews from the likes of Moss and Burger. Moss did say something that made me smile. He said that in the 70s after a race the drivers would chase the girls, today the thank Vodafone LOL! The documentary also showed James Hunt punching and fighting officials at the races. This made me think that i often hear from several posters on here how they miss the good old days, and when the drivers were real men ect. And yet when Alonso flips the bird or Lewis Hamilton gets angry on the radio, the same posters get on there high horses talking about professionalism and saying STFU ect Has anyone heard James Hunt interviewed? Does anyone remember Sheen flipping the bird to his American rival during the race? Goes to show that inside the cockpit an inside the driver the passion still burns hot, although now its expected to be sanitised to an unnatural level. As was said in this documentary, F1 misses the characters. I personally think there still there, its just that we jump all over them if they show any kind of human emotion/passion in the heat of war (racing). Saying that i remember both Senna grabbing/hitting people and schumacher going for Coulthard A worth while documentary lads.
can anyone pm with a link/DL to watch this? James Hunt is extremely interesting and I want to learn more about him.
I thought it was a good programme. I like the way it contrasted what they got up to in the 70's with todays sports stars. Basically Hunt and Sheene shagged around more than Tiger Woods and their wives either didn't know or ignored it. As Sheene's wife said "I'm sure he did, but then didn't everyone?". Essentially nothing has changed in the behaviour of sports stars over the years except these days they have to be more careful about getting caught! In the past the press knew what was going on but didn't think it was newsworthy - they just reported on what happened on the track. I really don't understand why any young sports star gets married these days. Surely they are just setting themselves up as a target?
This is a must see excellent, it raises alot of questions to me on the PR side of things. Pity Mosley gets too much say in it, trying to be Mr nice guy, but alas he thought he was above the rat pack press, but they got him bang to rights and they showed it... If anybody wants an example of how to live your life to fullest, JH and BS are it.
I found it I have hosted it but you need to PM me for the link! Will be deleting it after 1mth. Image Unavailable, Please Login
