Just curious. How many miles are on that car? Has it had a major before?

    That's my baby -

Car currently has around 42,000 miles.

Last major was done by previous owner 5 years ago at 32,000 miles.

Powder coat intake plenium silver and red
    Window speed accelerator (2)
Replace plastic and stainless hard lines to fuel system
    Replace all cooling system hoses
    New stainless braided brake lines
    New Momo steering wheel
    Birdman's Floor mat grabber
Set of new Mondial Rims (Superperformance)
New shift knob (brushed, not chrome)
    New shields from YoShield
    New water pump
    New center caps
    New Front Rotors
    New Front Pads

I can't wait to see the progress unfold - and to drive the car for the first time.

    Thanks,
    Erik

Congratulations Erik! Welcome to F-chat! I cannot wait to see the car go through this rejuvenation process. You're going to love it when she's done. :)

Thank you. I've setup a blog to document every dollar I spend on the car as I plan to use it every day. Hopefully this will give people a real understanding of how much the cost of ownership on an '80s Ferrari really is. I'm trying to do as much of the preventative things up front to avoid headaches.

Bradan has been very helpful throughout the process, especially prior to the purchase of the vehicle.

Nothing there yet - as soon as the work is completed and delivery is made I'll start posting.

I registered this new screen name just for the blog...I had another one with only 9 posts in 4 years. I wrote to the admin to have my name changed, but I didn't get a response. I also just paid for the $50/year membership to this site...it's been an invaluable resource already.

    Thanks,
    Erik

That's a pretty damn epic second post. Good luck.

I enjoy the braden posts but more narrative/explanation would be useful (would anyone give a crap if I posted pics of me wrenching on my car without explanation?)

Thanks - I'll make it a bit more epic (in my mind, at least) - wife doesn't know about the car yet - It's my 30th Birthday present to myself.

I agree with you, extra details explaining the pictures could go a long way.

I'd like to see some pics when you tell her! That's awesome. I had a young man working for me once that surprised his young bride to be with the purchase of a 'fixer' house in an 'up and coming' area.......

I did the same thing (though the condition of my purchase was slightly better perhaps- maybe I'll never know) in '04. "No notice purchase" nearly cost me the big "D". She settled down after 8 months with a grand piano and upgraded engagement ring. Good luck. You might need it?

I would be afraid to see the bills with all that work being done, but congratulations nevertheless.

Thanks for the support. The bill is about half of what I paid for the car itself.

I weighed the decision of buying a 'clean' car vs one that needed some work. Here's what I concluded.

    1. I was able to form a relationship with a mechanic that would know my car inside and out.

    2. I am assured the proper work was done (as they document every step).

    3. I'm able to replace parts I think will go bad soon (fuse box, hoses, etc).

In the end of the day, I paid about the same I would have for a car that had just gone through a major anywhere else.

Here's a picture of the mat's that were in the car (wrong type/color) and the new ones that are on their way to Bradan.

    Thanks,
    Erik

Thanks for posting the update. I'm glad we went ahead with the fuse box rebuild - you told me you saw melting, but it looks far worse than I expected.

The intake plenum is just a pet peeve of mine - when it's missing paint it makes the whole car look worn, at least in my opinion.

    Excellent progress so far.

    Thanks,
    Erik

These are not low maintenance cars. I love it when owners do whatever it needs. Cheers! I look forward to the daily driver reports.
