How is that even relevant? I had a few fake Rolex's when I was 18-19. I honestly bought them with the intention of deciding which real one I would purchase when I was able to afford it. At 22, I bought a GMT in all black. (I tried the Red/Blue and wasn't a fan). This is the only reason I can see to buy a replica. It's a test drive of sorts... I have a collection of about 35 watches. Maybe only 6 or so are worth any real money. (A few Rolex, etc). The rest are are 400-1000 dollar watches. Can't really see the point of buying a fake and being a poser, when there are so many cool watches in that price point. I might do it all over again as I plan on buying a Panerai, and I'm not sure if I can go 44mm. If I bought a fake, I'd wear it for a weekend before I decided wheather or not to get the watch I have my eyes on (a 112). After I am done with it, I know where I can go to sell it...
Im a watch mega newb. Im thinking about getting a rep but from the small amount of research ive done it appears no one makes a decent Jaeger-Lecoultre. But i guess i dont know what the criteria is for a "good" rep. Does this just mean you can easily tell the difference between real and fake? or that it will break right away? or the movement is off? or? a few examples from watcheden http://www.watcheden.com/jaeger-lecoultre-tourbillon-moonphase-automatic-with-black-dial-leather-strap-i-66841-p-1.html http://www.watcheden.com/jaeger-lecoultre-master-control-collection-grand-tourbillon-automatic-with-skeleton-dial-black-leather-strap-i-51207-p-1.html
from what I have learned only the more popular brands like a Rolex, Omega or Breitling are the ones that are near exact copies
thats fine. I dont have to have an exact replica. I just want the look. But if that means its junk i dont want it. But if it only means you can tell the difference fairly easily im not concerned
Hit the nail on the head... people who don't care about watches won't even glance at your wrist, watch enthusiasts will call you out... or better yet have a fun conversation with you...
Sure they do here is the link http://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/ and its very nice quality Im just pickin at ya...
For me personally, i am so far away from buying the real thing (over $10k for a watch) it doesnt bother me to have the style i actually like. There are no "cheap" watches i really like. Especially since i am a mega newb and currently dont own any watchs. I dont even know if i can actually live with one daily since i havnt ever really worn one (i think i had one in Jr. high but probably wore it once or twice). I see it as a shelby cobra. No way i can afford a real one, and if i could, i would be affraid to drive it. But there are TONS of replicas out there and there seems to be very little dis-respect twords them. Same for lotus 7s, 32 fords, etc... I guess i do see the point with the fiero ferrari. Maybe its because those "replicas" are of more modern cars... or maybe cause theyre SOOOO obvious. Or maybe its the "snob" factor of ferraris compared to hotrodders, i dont know. But there does seem to be a difference. Anyway. Im OK with letting anyone that might ask know its a fake. Im not trying to impress anyone. I just want to be able to look down at it every now and again and REALLY enjoy what i am seeing. I personally cant do that with "authentic" watchs right now
As promised... Watch quality is not Rolex by any means- not that I was expecting Rolex quality at $102 USD! Compared to my friend's GMT Master, the difference is night-and-day. Worst aspect is the watchband, which I'll change out for a better-quality band before gifting it to my buddy. At least the bezel rotates and the crown unscrews as per the real thing. As a toy or a gift (with full disclosure), it's okay. I admit to feeling bad for buying a knockoff, and I far prefer my $<200 bottom-of-the-line (but real) vintage Heuer. I'll continue to save up the $12.5k which a real "Bond Submariner" fetches... Image Unavailable, Please Login
If you like the Rolex look, try a nice Invicta. For $150 or less you can buy a very nice automatic or quartz chronograph, and for a couple hundred you can get an automatic with a Swiss ETA movement. I swiped both of these images from the web a while back, and I do not know from where... I own 2 divers with coin edges, one it at least 8 years old and still works beautifully. The other is newer and also functions and looks great. Both have the Japanese Automatic Miyota movement in them. I also have a Speedway I recently purchased, but I have yet to re-size the band for my wrist. Shiny Side Up! Bill Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
What sort of look are you seeking? They have many other styles... I don't have any vested interest in them... Unless you count the 12 or so I own! Here are a few from Ebay. Shiny Side Up! After looking through a quite a few invictas i did find one i "kinda" like http://www.worldofwatches.com/detail.asp?bo_products_id=&bo_products_variance_id=85723&rid=googleinvicta very cheap, but its a decent design. Might prefer a different band tough... even so, i dont like it as much as some of the fakes
Go to Invicta's website too... lots of designs. I have also had good luck with the new Lucien Piccard watches, though I only own two of those. Shiny Side Up! Bill
What that tells me is that you are wanting a fake, with a fake name.. Invicta makes a great watch, I have plenty and they make one that pretty much looks the same as any "fake" out there..
no, the name doesnt concern me. Like i said before i dont like but apparently 1 invicta and even that one is just "OK"
http://www.watcheden.com/porsche-design-worldtimer-working-chronograph-pvd-case-with-black-dial-rubber-strap-i-45354-p-1.html Is this one actually a replica? I cant find an authentic one like it anywhere.
