Nope because everybody outside the team will be thinking why is Alonso not winning because surely the Ferrari is good. But just like for Alesi and many others before the Ferrari team has gone crazy with politics and poor management again and it will destroy reputations. Atleast in a William if Alonso is slow they will knowingly blame the car ... Pete
Well, it´s your opinion... With a bad Ferrari and without safety cars and drive troughs Alonso would be in the lead of the championship or very close. Even so, he´s not so far. He´s dusting his team mate so his ablities are not in question. Alesi reputation was great when he was at Ferrari, as far as I remember, but when he was in the middle of the pack with a Sauber or a Prost nobody cared. He was just another "has-been". If you are not in the spotlight you don´t even exist. Alonso knows this. He could stay in Renault, where he was the star, and still decided to go to Ferrari. And in the worst of the scenarios, he´ll earn good money.
I take some solace in the fact that LDM did hire the "Dream Team" that they had before. He knows how to fix the management by hiring the right people. He did it before and if he has to, I hope he will do it again.
Spa had to be the GP of the raising for the run to the world championship, among a series of errors we have seen how gone, Mass 4, Alonso out for accident, bye bye world championship
http://planetf1.com/news/18227/6347836/Alonso-First-final-went-badly-for-me Stefano reminding everyone about Kimi's title. Thats not quite what is going on here. The Ferrari has been hit and miss all year. Its not consistently the fastest car when needed. Honestly any title at all is becoming much less possible after Spa. The car is not there, the management is strategically inept and both drivers are not at their best. The last victory was contrived for Alonso and hardly an indication that he is dominant. If you need help to pass, you are clearly not in the drivers seat so to speak. He makes a nice excuse for Alonso spinning out of the race in the article as well. If it was Massa the wolves would be howling here for his scalp. Pathetic.
Look how Massa at Spa star from IRREGULAR place... http://www.quattroruote.it/news/articolo.cfm?codice=268014 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfyHfXhYeBQ&feature=player_embedded
The bad Sunday for Ferrari at Spa would have been even worse: the home movie below, in fact, reveals that the F10 Felipe Massa were deployed illegally on departure or in a more advanced position than the white line marking the " box "for each car. Risk drives through. In this way, the Brazilian has gained an advantage over competitors, rivals approaching the rows ahead of him. Fortunately, the Ferrari, the Commissioners and the direction of the race not have been noticed or did not wish to penalize Massa, perhaps with a drive trough, which could cost him fourth place in the final standings. At least one positive thing for the Reds, there was competition in the Belgian ...
That explains it. He never could have done as well without an unfair advantage!* *For those who haven't had their first cup yet; the above is sarcasm.
I hoped to have been wrong, but unfortunately with the loss of the Championship for an absurd box strategy , the thing returns of actuality... Not possible to loose in this way...
FROM ITALY, I have spoken with friends been this afternoon in Maranello place to watch the GP in the wide screen, and the most diffused comments are: 1) Domenicali, it 's useful to be changed, immediately 2) Ross Brown, back as team principal, will be a dream 3) Flavio Briatore: too many are afraid of his own interests, never well seen by Ferraristi 4) Luca di Montezemolo is the only one that can rebuild a "winning" team ! BUT he has to stop to think to his possible politics involvment.....now HE seems too much absorbed by this project than to follow F1 team, unfortunately. Bye Ciao ! Alessio
Let's cut to the chase: The TEAM was just so-so this year. The Constructor points show it clearly. If Alonso had won the title, it would have been with a mediocre car (actually, a disappointment given that they stopped last year's development to work on it) and some questionable team strategy ALL YEAR -- including today. The team needs some new leadership. I don't think it's anything we haven't been saying all season long.
couldn't agree more, since 07 the italian dream team didnt work at all some development bring alonso back in contention but still a big dissapointment looking at the race today
As i stated from the start of this campaign has been a great driver and a fantastic addition to the team. He has against all the odds draged a very mediocre car to within touching distance of the title. Whilst all of the above was going on, development of the f-duct delayed the short and long term aero development of the car. The car was not evolved in the way that it should have been and some of the stratagy calls havge been awfull. Domenicali seems to enjoy having a joke with the television comentators and tring to show himself as a nice guy. Non of this matters, what does matter is Ferrari winning races and championships. Domenicali has to go now, Alonso with the correct support and car will bring mulitple titles to the team.
Agreed with all. Not sure Domenicali will be fired (he should) but what has already happened this year is that his responsibilities got subdivided and transferred to other people. He is more and more becoming just the figurehead of the team. Fine with me.
Pit lane comedy is a cherished part of Ferrari history. So is management by intrigue. OFF WITH HIS EAD!
Enzo always backed his team managers over his drivers. Thus why no #1 driver was nominated in 1961, and why Sutrees walked in '66 while manager Dragoni stayed. IMO.
