Is this the type of glass or a dark strip at the top of the windscreen? I have only seen this on one car featured on this forum. Any details would be appreciated.

Its the type of glass used, my understanding is that it helps to reduce internal heat loss which tends to be the greatest around the window area.......

Correct. The matt grey stripe I had put on my windscreen is a mod I did when my original windscreen was replaced. My car was 3 days old when I took it to the track and I had a cracked front windscreen at the end of the day. I thought it goes well with the matt grey roof and makes the appearance of the car from the front a bit more aggressive.

The mind boggles at some of these options - especially since this one's only about 400 bucks.

What's the point - to keep the heat out in summer or in for winter?

Why's it an option - is it heavier?

Its to keep the heat in primarily......but come to think of it I guess the insulation should theoretically work both ways. The idea is to keep the internal temperatures isolated from the external. From a cost point I think the glass used is just a bit more expensive, I dont think there is any significant weight advantage/dis-advantage. I didnt think it was particularly useful so dont have it on mine.

Correct. It keeps the greenhouse effect down, ie, from heating up the interior as much in Summer and cooling as much in winter. Living in South Texas, and given the small price, I was on it like a duck on bug. And, its really does seem to work based on my experience over the last month or so. We'll see on a winter day--except, that if its too cold or wet, I'm not likely to be out and about in the GTO anyway.
