Can someone tell me when the serial number started to appear on the steering column for euro spec cars please?

    Hello Simon,
has been always on US-models and on some export markets, for example Germany, from 1973 onwards.
Your #05898 was build in March 1973 for the Italian market. It shouldn`t have the serial number on the steering column.
    Regards Matthias

Thanks Matthias - it doesn't have the serial number on the steering. I just wanted to check it was correct.

I believe the difference in steering column covers is that those with the S/N on them have a flat section facing up where the info is/would be stamped. Those without the S/N have a steering column cover that is round on top. Is that the easiest way to differentiate them?
