It was the best when I owned it, and knowing Mr Millard is as anal retentive as I am, I can't see why that would have changed.
hmmmm, I was on R spec tyres that had done.....Targa Tas 2010, Adelaide hills tarmac rally and the last round of the SA motor sport championship.....thus all in all over 3000km and all those heat cycles time to get slicks as this thing is circuit based for club events
the judges had no idea what original actually means, how does a 2 week old 599 win overall concours? Like its a new car........
because since then mine's had a complete mechanical, interior and body make over....and IMO the suspension setup is superior....you've done similar stuff before and you know the difference all that makes. so mine is still the fastest (always was...IMAGINE what it would do with one of those ugly wings) and now the best in condition as well. it's only a matter of money. I love my car.
Concourse leads to more arguments than anything else in a car club. There needs to be a lot more weighting for age, as it is a lot harder to be competitive on condition and cleanliness on a 15, 20, or 30 year old car than a new one.
and a lot LESS weighting on how clean a car is. (like is happening in the US apparently) but let's face it, who the hell is in a position to judge? i won my class in my boxer at a concours once while i was experimenting with FI...and at the time it had 2 x GM throttle bodies, home made plenums and alloy pipes where the carbies once were. I'd never do it. I don't know how SD did it for so long....you need hide like an elephant and the patience of a saint. also..lap timing? don't get me started!
There probably should be some national judges who go to each Rally, surely that couldn't be too hard to organise? I thought the Rally had to be electronic timing now? ( Scott is the next owner of his cars' best friend )
shouldn't stop anyone from entering the rally. it's still the best fun you can have with the club...just do the bits you love.
i'm sure it wasn't stopwatches. aren't you used to it with Rob? I am! btw...for the organisers if they happen to read this.....the rally was great. everyone had major fun...so don't think there were any organisational issues or anything. there are some things that just can't be fixed...and track timing and concours judging are two of them.
Timing was dodgy? wtf? "Transponder meet car, car meet transponder. Beacon meet track". Fixed. At ATC event I even got my time to X decimal places by SMS within seconds of crossing finish line and hadn't even left the track yet!
