Wonder why not? It's a national F car rally at a track.. people like their times done correctly.. This way it's all accurate and fair with no arguments.
I'd be hoping it wasn't too, but there were a few anomalies that surprised me as to the difference between unofficial handheld timing confirmed by GPS and the official timing. +1, it really was a great event, just a few bumps in the carpet at the end. For things like the concours though, in addition to the best resto award, and outright award, why not have a best heritage (or classiche) award for originality? Then again, there would likely be plenty of resulting argie-bargy over what is "original" in the absence of very knowledgeable judges who can distinguish between originality and cleanliness of the various models. Given that it can be done in the States though, how hard can it be?
small boxes.. cable tie anywhere off the front as convenient.. a grille slat or otherwise for example. Just snip and remove end of day/event.
timing was done via stop watches we used the race logic camera and plotted each session on lap top to show the graph of our lap time. Pete used the same sort of system and we both found the stop watches were 1 second out on our own times.........the camera and gps doesnt lie in the end the rally was great, well run albeit short however an epic event in organisational side of things......the concours was a great day, judges had no idea, track day was exceptional, food was good and the AGM on Monday was the shortest AGM I have ever been to, one question from the floor about membership and then it was back to lunch. good effort to the organising committee
Just got home a while ago.....OK silly me.... hung over & didn't register the humour.... Have to agree mate on the 360 scenario, rubbish that you didn't win it, you were the quickest 355/360 I don't understand their logic. They really cocked up the awards for both you & me & honestly I can't believe that Brett didn't get Ron Davis, Duncan had a go for sure, but he trucked his car there, spent $180 at the car wash on saturday & got RD, go figure. Was also great to finally meet you and have a few good chats and some friendly competition at the track, had a great time sharing company with Duncan & Rachel, Brett & Judy, John & Selby, John & Leonie, Pete & Tiki & all the rest of the crew on the rally. Thanks to Mark for an absolutely fabulous drive through the hills following his 458 & for organising the great dinner.
lol .... in reality probably would have been better removed for the concours & put back in for the track
