One problem, the 430(s) you have chosen are the Scuderia which you are comparing to a 360 Modena. A better comparison would be a 430 to a 360 or a CS to the Scuderia.
Right you are. I wanted the angles as close as possible. Feel free to post a more appropriate picture.
The 360 pictures did a good job of capturing some of the more subtle design elements. It wasn't until the car was actually in my garage for unlimited viewing pleasure that I noticed how many various bits come together to form its shape.
A model builder (Lucky13) pointed out to me the beauty of the 360 design. How each of the lines flow together and make for a harmonius package. I really had not consciously noticed these until he went over the lines detail by detail. His opinion: the 360 is one of Fcar's best designs.
+1 Even though I own a 430 and believe it is a more modern design, I think the 360 (especially in Coupe form) will stand the test of time better. The cohesive design on the 360 is really special. Personally, I feel the CS is the best of the bunch and much prettier than the 430 or the Scud.
Yeah, you need a CS in there to compare. The lower ride height of the CS coupled with the CS mirrors make it the best looking V8 Ferrari (to me) . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've hated the 360's front bumper since the inception. Still looks like an oxen yoke to me. I'm not fond of the very wide, rounded rear panel either. Profile is nice. Overall, I'll take the 430 though neither design is my favorite. Dave
As Lucky13 pointed out re the styling of the 360: Front view. The size of the headlight cluster compliments the front air ducts and is proportional to the rest of the hood. Side view. The hipline starts at the front and continues the length of the car rising slighly which gives the car a raked look. The front airducts idea continues all the way to the rear of the car. These ideas are flowing and unbroken. Rear view. The exhausts repeat the idea of the front air ducts. The light cluster is proportional to the exhausts. The rear diffuser repeats the idea of the front yoke type soiler. Generally the effects are "rounded" throughout. And the ideas get larger from front to rear. This gives the impression of an aerodymanic package and denotes smoothness. It really is a masterpiece of design.
Love them both...the 430 is a bit more 2010 and more aggressive...the 360 has the nicer flowing lines and will be forever a classic, at least to me...the main reason to go to the 430 from the 360 is the 88extra hp , the extra torque, nicer interior and the much improved F1 tranny. Of course if go with the stick shift, the last point does not matter....
I'm wondering why so many people like the styling of the 360 over the 430. I maybe biased since I have a 430 but imho I think the 430 looks so much more modern and muscular than the 360. Can someone point out what makes the 360 look better than the 430 or what is it about the 430 that makes it look worse.
I prefer my CS but that's not to say I wouldn't rock a 430 in a second. They all look kick ass. Fun conversation though.

First off, I love any thread that starts with a picture of my car As far as styling queues go, you would think that changes made to the exterior of the 430, would improve the look of the car. Some are a matter of preference (tail lights, rear diffuser, interior, etc.), however, some changes they made look odd to me. For example, the door handle on 430 screams "I have been re-used from the 360 parts bin". On the 360, the door handle is integrated into the rear air intake scoop as part of a flowing design. On the 430, it is just disconnected so they made an indentation in the rear quarter. Another example is the 430 front air intakes. They look good in the Scuderia, but I'm not sure what they were thinking on the base 430. They shape and the black surround just look odd. Since they had a great design with the 360 to start with, all they had to do was to make minor changes on the 430. Spend the effort and do the necessary re-design so it all fits together in a cohesive package. I would love to hear the designer talk about these changes and how he "sold" them as an improvement.

I can see a bloodline from the Enzo-era cars to the 360 but it does not continue through to the 430 and 458 (and it totally skips the Fiat-era models). The recent designs are cool but I imagine in 10 years the 360 will be the most desirable of the designs. I was astonished last weekend when an older gentleman told me he could see the Dino elements in my 360 with the vertical rear window (between the driver and the engine) and flowy lines.
Pictures of the 360CS just makes me wanna pull the trigger on one for weekend blasts up and down the highway.
You forgot to mention the change from belt-driven to chain-driven camshafts, another plus for the 430. However, I think it's a matter of personal taste, but for strictly looks alone, to my eyes the 360 coupe is the better looking car. The lines are fluid and rounded from just about every angle. The 430 is more angular, yet not so much it has "folds" like a Lambo. I think the 360 coupe looks better than the spider, too, but I would not give up the ability to put the top down to get a car that only looks better from the outside.
430's a much better handling car and safer.(spontaneous combustion in either aside) 360's probably a more cohesive design but I'd prefer to have a car with the bugs out handling wise
I agree. The 430 has sharper lines and angles whereas the 360 is curvier. A good analogy? 360 = monica bellucci 430 = angelina jolie True?
