Look 3 posts above this one. Gabe was cut too. http://mmajunkie.com/news/21192/former-heavyweight-contender-gabriel-gonzaga-cut-by-ufc-following-loss.mma
I think effectively, Lesnar is more or less a gatekeeper until he can (or if he can) improve his boxing defense - it SUCKS. Note, I've posted before, I am a Lesnar fan, but calling it like it is. You can argue he has a good chin - both Carwin and Velasquez PASTED him - he never went out. However, that's meaningless if you simply run and cower once you get hit - not good at all...it's stand up 101. His ground game is impressive, but at this level it's not good enough, and I think based on what we saw at 125, Schaub may have beaten Lesnar. To be fair, Velasquez is a monster. If what he did to Big Nog wasn't enough of a clue. I won't go into what's already been stated, but Lesnar needs to get to Greg Jackson if he remotely expects to compete for the title again. I think Cain is going to be another Anderson / GSP.
To Brock's credit, he's an awfully quick learner. With his size, power, speed, and the right camp, he has the capability of becoming the most dominant champ ever.
Hate to see it, but I agree---He needs a camp like Jacksons, AKA or ATT to really break thru into a powerhouse fighter
+1 - get to a good camp, he'll become a force. I don't know if he'll do that, but let's hope he does!
Watching TUF- Brookins is the MAN!!! And Kos once again proves what a prick he is: he gets mad that someone in GSP's camp talks sh it to one of his guys, but HE talks shi t about Cody. Then starts jumping up and down and gloating. What a punk. What a poor sport.
Just caught last week's MMA Connected and MMA live last night. Apparently the docs had to open part of Carwin's skull as part of his surgery. They showed the entry point about 1/2 way up the side of his head. Ouch! Any thoughts on Lesnar/Big Country? I think it's a great match up for both. Tough one to call at this point but BC can certainly neutralize Lesnar's ground game and we know he can take a punch. And Brock can't really afford back to back losses but it won't be easy for him. Picks for tonight: Faber Mendez/Vazquez- too tough to call..but gonna go with Vaz Johnson Koch
WHAT A PRICK!!!!! He had to pick on the "Male Nurse". But GSP just sat there. I didn't loike that too much either. Cody might turn out to be a decent fighter. You look at him and laugh but hey, he's not too bad. ...a bit goofy. and yes, BROOKINS IS THE MAN!!!!! I hope he wins it ALL! What a humble person.
Good fights last night; Faber was dominating. Mendez had a couple of wild flips; crazy that he pulled them off.
UFC fight card tonight was just boreing; Seemed like no one brought any energy. My wife even fell asleep half way through..... Next weekend should be entertaining though....
Yeah Armen, It was one of those cards that I really wish I hadn't stayed up to watch. Nothing worth seeing.... Next weekend should be a fun card.
I'll be there this weekend. My bud scored some tickets in a private suite. I can't wait! On another note, I enjoyed this past weekend's card, considering it was free! Okami fought a good fight. People seemed to have forgotten about him, and that he is in the upper echelon of the MW division. I can't wait to see him go against Silva again - would much rather see that than a rematch against Marquardt. Enjoyed the Siver/Winner fight, Siver's quite entertaining to watch. Also, Krzysztof fought well. Also, the Ludwig/Osipczac was really back and forth
I'm a huge fan of Rampage but i'm a bit worried. If he comes out with the same strategy as he's had the past couple of fights, then he'll lose. He simply cant afford to stand there and try to box with Machida while eating leg kicks. He needs to mix it up a bit more and use some of that wrestling and GNP like he did in PRIDE. Bottomline if Machida wins it'll be by unanimous decision and if Rampage wins it'll have to be by KO or TKO.
Im afraid of those leg kicks on Quinton. Dan Have a great time. Fun card to go too! Post some pics. if you meet anyone.
Thanks! Machida has a point to prove in this fight. He never seemed to have much love from anyone, even when he was the Champ. After he lost the title, it's almost as if he's fallen off the face of the earth. He is a very talented fighter, with a very unique style that can be very effective. Rampage will certainly have his hands full. I'm not so sure Shogun would beat Machida in a rematch.
It really is a polar opposite styles match up. I think Machida will pick apart Rampage. It's odd how when each of these guys lost the title they just faded away (apart from Rampage v. Rashard, but he sure looked lackluster in that). That said, the LHW belt traded hands so many times in the past two years that it's not like anyone really held the title, more that they just won a fight. Hughes v. Penn will be good. Penn looked weak last fight, but I think he has a lot to prove so should come out hungery.
and once again on TUF, Kos proves over and over what a dic k he is... I can't wait to see GSP destroy him....
I used to be a huge Rampage fan (I've been to two UFC's in my life, both with him headlining), but he's getting old and his heart is clearly not into it anymore. To be honest, I could care less who wins the fight just as long as it's an entertaining bout. I'm more interested in the Hughes/Penn fight to be honest. And I just noticed Karo Parisyan is on the undercard????
Yeah, the return of Karo! Sadly, with half of his thigh missing, he's not the fighter he once was. I hope he can be competitive, and stay out of trouble. I am looking forward to seeing a few awesome Judo tosses!
+1 Also was glad to see Micheal Johnson win. I like Rampage and The Dragon... I hope it will be a good fight to watch.
I think the same way everytime. I CANT STAND HIM!!! And he tries so hard to get under GSP's skin and he's not even good at it. It irritates him that he knows he's failing to do so. What a Jackas*
