    They are very cool creatures! The female frequently beheads the male after mating :eek: and I have found headless males still moving, though doubtless unable to go for very much longer! LOL

    These are extended exposures with 3 step Nuetral Density filters..various F stops and exposure adjustment in Lightroom 3..

    It was on the Linyanti River between Namibia and Botswana. He was a big one, but I couldn't get anyone to go stand next to him for scale.

    The building lines were really vertical and parallel, but I suppose that was a result of being far away and taking the shot rather than closer. The tilt shift lens is used to prevent converging of the lines (it can be used to "miniaturize" things). Keeping them parallel is what you want so you have to shift it.

    I've used studio view cameras (which tilt shift lenses mimic), but nothing in that picture jumped out at me as being t/s.

    You are right, though, close up with a wide angle lens there could have been distortion.

    Cool side discussion! I enjoy analyzing pictures and figuring out how to re-create them.

    In that un-fixed photo, if the camera was held with the sensor parallel to the plane of those columns it wouldn't be nearly as distorted. Funny, the fixed photo was OVER-fixed (the columns diverge at the top).

    Both of the SCOTUS building pics aren't that great imo. I wanted to take one to replace it, but never got a good shot. The colors aren't even correct.

    There are a number of lenses I'd like, but will have to get a full frame first.

    Macro for portraits and flower/insect shots.
    Wideangle for fun.
    Tilt/shift for architecture.

    That is one of the most bad ass pictures I've seen in a long time.

    Must be pretty difficult. That one has a red smudge that I assume is associated with the flames being so bright and reflecting in the barrel.

    I'd like a long lens for wildlife stuff. These were shot with a 200 X 1.4, and it was a little close for comfort:
