Hello Just bought another Rari. It's a 348 with a 355 kit beautifully fitted. The paint is better than factory in my opinion. I'm so happy. Lots of little things to do but she's a low mileage machine with Tubi and 355 wheels. The Mondial is my first F-car but I still have it.She's a very good old 83 QV that I mostly rebuilt and re-styled. I changed the seats too. The little human is Olivia. She says ooga booga yum yumm. Not sure what this means.I think it might be some thing like ,' lets fit NOS Daddy '. I'm stoked about the 48. Any idea how to get the aircon working? Doesn't even blow the fan! Completely useless.I've looked at my348.com Col Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Congrats on the 348/355 Colin! Great looking cars! Baby Olivia is a cutie pie too! Have you checked the "hidden fuse" under the cover in the front boot/trunk area? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Pap 348 .The machine is in storage for a few months so I'll have a look as soon as I can.The AC system's lights come on but that's about it.I also cannot set the temp on the Digi readout.Wont budge up or down. Will get back to you once sorted Col
Thanks Rob'z. Mondial took a lot of work.It was a learning curve to try to make it look as 'Factory' as possible.I thought the F people would crucify me but I have had nothing but praise for the job. I made the back bumper myself and the front grill I fabricated from ali and plastic. It was painstaking work but I love my Mondi so much. The interior has leather recovered race seats with SF emblems and white top stitching. Believe it or not I also found a 246 Dino with Aristocratic history in a barn in South Africa. My father bought it it years ago and together we did a nut and bolt restoration with the help of ex UK formula one mechanic Tom Blenkinsop. It was truly fabulous concours but we were green and sold her for a song 5 years back for about 50K. Makes me weep. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I see, sounds like its something more terminal mate. I thought the HVAC was not working at all. If its on, then it wont be the fuse. Perhaps dis-connect the plug on the back of the HVAC and clean the contacts on the plug with Stabilant-22. They *may* fix it, but its a long shot. Good luck and talk soon.
Excuse the rear tyre I was experimenting with final drive to lower RPM on motorway.Did nothing! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice interior. I usually don't like anything that's not original, but you've managed to make it look like it could have come that way, and made it look up to date at the same time. Really nicely done.
Unless you checked speed with radar or GPS you won't see a change even though your speed is increasing at the same RPM with the taller tire. If your speedo reads from the front wheels then disregard this post. Is that a 348 front fascia on the Mondial? Rob
Thanks a lot fella's.Such nice things to say.The Mummy of my little girly ain't bad either! Funny how life just comes right sometimes.Yes the front of the Mondial comes from a 348. I added Subaru type lights and Golf 3 indictors. It looks very neat and clean in the flesh. I had to square the 348 bumper a bit with filler as it was just too round for the car.[Only at the corners though.]This 'rounded' the front without actually overdoing it and transformed the car completely.Another subtle but essential change was the addition of two skirts along each side panel under the doors. The picture of me and Olivia shows them installed.Basically extensions of the cars sides. This allows for a balanced visual line from the front to the back of the car as the 348 bumper extends quite low down. The two pics of the car in front of my home don't have the skirts and you can see the job looks unfinished. These came from a golf 3 as well, I think, but again cut and modified. The rear bumper was completely built from scratch and also was made to round the Mondi off just a little. Removing the old bumpers and replacing with new plastic ones took about 30 kgs of weight off. My new 348 is a 92 with 355 bumpers sides etc.It is unbelievably well painted and can only be described as red glass.I have a few ideas to redo the interior .Yet again subtle but clean. The sticky console is going to be redone for sure and the seats will be recovered with a more Mat finish ,top stitched robust leather. This leather lasts better than the soft creasable leather Ferrari uses and is more similar to the Lamborghini type finish. When I eventually get her out of storage I'll show pics of the tidy up. I drove the car once and it was very tight with lots more power than the Mondial but built very similarly. Chat soon Col
Yes its a 1.8 146. I rebuilt this one too. It's lovely.1999.Unbelievably reliable with great steering and cost 1000 Pounds!I've also got a Lotus Elan Turbo.Lots of trouble usually serious.
I had a similar problem with aircon on the GTC, all the boys did was take out the fuses and clean all of the connections....now works a treat
Ernie , those fogs are 125 mm in diameter and I will be able to give you specs when I get back to base in about one week.i'd advise that the rear section of the fogs are gloss finish not MATT ,or made of steel/ali.Makes a more factory look. You'll notice that I changed indicator repeaters as well to eliptical shapes. Matches door handle shape. I've attached a pic of the front when the car was black.Looked good but too difficult to clean Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice! I have been thinking about doing something like that with my fog lights. After having seen yours I am going to be doing it.
Those round lights look super in the flesh.I far prefer them to the Factory square lights. If you could get them in 130 -135mm I reckon they'd look even better than mine. A mesh is a good idea too and is easy to make if you make a cardboard template and take time to fold the mesh carefully. Can't stress this enough.I mounted my lights by drilling two neat holes in the bottom of the apertures and simply bolted them in on their supplied mounting. They have adjustment in X and Y planes. Personally I think if you do a pro job the brotherhood will do it's nut. Had my 348 not had such a gorgeously well done 355 kit fitted , I'd have done the same to my car.The round lights evoke the whole 'one off' thing and if your original headlights get cracked they cost about 50 Dollars to replace with round ones rather than 1500. I can't wait to see your progress, I think it'll be a big hit. Good luck mate. Col
